at 14:17 you fitted the flange , Isnt there a rotary shaft seal to go inside that flange to stop oil leaking past the input shaft ?
@etrtruckcenterenginedrivet89187 ай бұрын
No sir the input shaft has reverse spirals cut into the shaft that when the engine is running pulls the oil back into the case. There is however a shipping seal located there from the factory it is not needed during a repair or replacement of the input shaft. The shipping seal does nothing but keep oil from leaking past the input shaft when the transmission is in the vertical position during storage.

@@etrtruckcenterenginedrivet8918 Thankyou Sir :) Been watching videos to see if i can learn enough to rebuild a 9 speed which wont downshift 5th to 4th , Many experienced mechanics dont attempt to repair these transmissions , They tell me "Send it out" ;)

For those LL transmissions I would always put in both counters without bearings, and then flop in the mainshaft. It gives plenty of clearance around that big low gear and it's not hard to pop in the countershaft bearings after the fact.
