I would definitely say have both your own websites takes a lot longer to build so the sooner you start the better. Have etsy to take advantage of the traffic already there and you can use it asa way of getting customers to your own website. Obviously never send them direct from etsy but when you send out orders add promotional material for your website hopefully if they want to buy more from you they will go there. Any traffic you drive yourself try to send to your website but dont hide the fact you have an etsy shop as some buyers feel safer buying on a platform.

Hi Patrick, Yes I have several Etsy shops and sell in a variety of other places too. 😃
