She had that incredible illusive gift of timing which transforms good artists into great artists. Sinatra had it, Ella Fitzgerald was immersed with it, Amy WInehouse, these singers seem to connect with me in a manner which for lack of a more precise word, is spiritual. They meld the sublime and the divine seemingly effortlessly. When they pass on a part of me feels gone with them. Fortunately this level of artistry does come again in different packaging.

That's stupid. Christina's biggest influence since day 1 is Etta James, in fact is her favorite singer. She did an outstanding work singing "At Last" at her funeral, no one in the business can sing a Etta James song like Christina does. Etta James was a Christina Aguilera fan: "a great little singer [and] for a young girl like that to be singing real songs? I mean, she’s headed for the Pop market, but she can do everything. She’s like somebody that was born at another time. An old soul."
