Bai Fengtian is well known in the french PRO A for excessive delays before receiving the serve.

@hyn3k I think, the booing was absolutely directed to the referee, you are also right. Regarding Bai's serves, it is difficult to judge it properly from this angle/video. I personally doubt, that the yellow/red card was because of the faulty serve, it should then have happened right after the false serve itself. The red card was givel Bai because he was doing something we can't see (his face, mimics etc.) but the umpire saw, and stopped the game. Bai isn't even complaining about the card...

@gforgtube ... and at 4:12 Bai gives a nod(?) to the umpire. He is absolutely not upset about the card, so maybe he knew very well, he clearly did something wrong, so there was nothing to complain about...

@gforgtube Agreed. But about the booing, wasn't it directed rather to the referee? It's hard to tell from the cut highlights what was the cause, but they started after he pulled the yellow and card.

What is the consequence of being red carded? I thought his coach would play instead of him from that point on. by the way, regardless of everything, this is the best crowd, best atmosphere for a table tennis match ever.

fentian bai keeps his arm in front of the ball all the time --> WRONG SERVICE!

Easy, the crowd was disturbing the player, in this case Boll, before the red card to Bai: they were still shouting, as the players, Bai and Boll were ready to play the point. The umpire had no choice, had to interrupt the game, and give a point to the opponent, in this case Boll. If the umpire hadn't done so, the crowd would continue shouting, and disturbing the game furthermore. (It was the same logic as at soccer, if the fans got crazy, injuries occur, the club gets the punishment...)

you crazy?! The people are awesome! The crowd did the right thing! As we saw, Fengtian Bai got red card for nothing!! Why shouldn't they react? I totally respect Timo but this victory is his only partially.

table tennis has rules, one of them is that hidden services are forbidden. i hate these players who can't win without cheating and doing all the time wrong services. it's just not fair and they are no sportsmen for me

Great match... ok the frenchies are not very fair... but it's plenty part of the Hennebont charm isn'it ? I think the yellow card is due to the misleading serve of Bai I think.. the arm stay too much in front of the ball IMHO.

I've rarely seen a worse crowd, especially for table tennis. I guess the Hennebont fans are just like that. Why did Fentian receive a yellow card?

And in my opinion, it was an absolutely unfair crowd, Boll was slightly better than Bai, maybe luckier too, so at the end this booo-hooo is at least childish. You rarely see such unfair fans in table tennis, everybody knows, this is not an easy sport (thats why watching is also fun), luck has a great role (on the mental side of the players), and daily forms of players means 2-3 points in each set plus - or minus...

This illegal serve stuff is getting out of hand. Why do the Chinese feel the need to cheat as much as they can get away with, and not just play straight up and honorably? You don't see Timo Boll or Vladimir Samsonov blocking their serves...
