I think that Poland is having its momentum and it is well deserved. The biggest challenge will be demography, but hopefully more poles will go back to their original cities and solve this issue partially. The UK on the side, decided to become a place where you have one globalist capital and a huge deindustrialised province. Good luck to them.. they will need a lot of luck

As a fellow Pole living in the UK I've seen a few of those videos and I was a bit sceptical (I still am), but I agree that things have changed in Poland and the UK is not as good as it used to be. I've also read somehwere that economic boom may end when companies start looking for a cheaper countries to operate and will move out from Poland. I guess we need to wait until 2030 to see :)

Hi Anna. I love Poland. So happy that you moved back. I belive that countries of Eastern Europe like Poland and Bulgaria will develop economically and the life it will be better for us. At the moment UK is experiencing some decline and the cost of living and rent are very expensive. Many People from East Europe have properties and land wich makes huge difference and give us better choice. We hope that life it will get better. Thank you for your videos. I have been watching you for years.

One thing not mentioned here are the many problems Poland will have to overcome in the next few years. For example, here are just a few of the things scaring away foreign investment: - the court system is a total mess: it takes YEARS to get a ruling on anything, which obviously can be a huge problem for businesses, which want an efficient court system that can quickly resolve disputes - high energy costs driven by the shutting down of coal power plants and the lack of other energy sources that can quickly take its place (there are plans for nuclear, but those will take 10+ years to realize) - related to the previous point, the power grid has been woefully underinvested in for DECADES and remains unconnected between different regions of the country - related to the above, a weak infrastructure, e.g. it seems like the EU is the only institution making any serious investments in our rail system - greater political uncertainty than ever before, with the current government prosecuting ex-ministers from the previous ruling party over corruption charges, and that party vowing revenge if it ever comes back to power - terrible demographics - Poland has the lowest birth rates in all of the EU, a rapidly aging workforce, and no clear source of immigration now that Russia and Ukraine are at war and immigration from outside of Europe is being restricted (visas are not readily handed out anymore to migrants from Russia and Belarus for obvious reasons, while Ukraine currently has a ban on working-age men leaving the country). Besides that, there is the obvious point that as a country's economy gets closer and closer to the standard of Western economies, economic growth slows. At this point, Poland has had the benefit of simply "catching up" by applying technologies and business practices already invented and oftentimes already implemented in Western economies. Also, being poorer than France, Germany, etc. means that the EU pays more to Poland than it takes out. Lastly, businesses moved to Poland because the labor was cheap. But as Poland becomes richer, these trends will reverse and thus economic growth will slow down. I'm not a doomsayer per se, I'm just not confident in Poland leapfrogging any major Western economy in my lifetime, unless our politicians finally start addressing problems when they're still small instead of waiting on them and distracting voters and themselves by bickering about social issues.

Honestly, I think you've made a blinder of a call by moving to Poland. You bought the land, built the property - yes it was a struggle, but looking at what you have now Vs if you stayed in the UK, you clearly have long lasting assets in a growing country. In 20 years time I imagine this difference will be more evident. If I'm still around I'll be moaning about living in a slum on here whilst you're talking about building a mansion 😅

GDP Per Capita is not the same as Total GDP of course, this is why Luxembourg has the greatest GDP Per Capita figure - however, in terms of strength of economy, the USA is still the largest...albeit only 55% of Luxembourg's GDP Per Capita figure.

Anna, we have suffered from years of poor governance in the UK, almost religious levels of fervour for ESG, DEI, Woke, Working from Home, Everybody is a Survivor mentality, High Taxation, Net Zero, EVangelism and Brexit. Oh and add in a lack of border control and a disdain for the indigenous population. The result is decimated industries, rising crime and overwhelmed public services. I am going to change my pronouns and identify as a Cat! 🙈😂🤣

It turns out when you have 10s of millions of people accepting the benefits of Capitalism and advocating for individual accountability, especially coming from recent history, that's a power economic driver. It is a shame. As a British man married to a Polish lady, we spend a lot of time in both countries (I also deal with a well known Polish IT company). The difference in attitudes are stark. Our daughter is a citizen of the UK and Poland, and it's important to us both that she is. I don't think it's just a UK problem, much of Western Europe has been in a malaise since 2008. We've forgot how to take risk and embrace the future. The divergence between Europe and the US since then is stark. Places like Poland are almost hiding the situation in other parts of the EU like Germany, which is arguably in an even worse spot than the UK.

Poland has one huge problem - depopulation. Birth rates are so low that soon there will be no people to work and support the overstretched retirement system, which will eventually collapse. There's not much Poland can do about it as any policy changes should have been made at least 25 years ago. So no, there is absolutely NO WAY Poland will overtake the UK. Poland has peaked a few years ago and now we are seeing a prolonged death period.
@pandabossanna
@pandabossanna 27 күн бұрын
Yes that is also a good point, they are trying to get through that with the 800zl per child etc though
@marlasota
@marlasota 27 күн бұрын
@pandabossanna this is just pre-election pork barrel with little or no effect on actual birth rates. Now the greatest numbers of women born in the 70's are reaching menopause. Polish government did absolutely nothing to encourage them to have children. In their prime years unemployment was 30% and women got fired from work for getting pregnant! It is too late to save Poland. Even immigration won't help now because those people are useless in the first generation. They have a different culture, they don't know how to work. It's only their descendants that really integrate and start to contribute. Immigration should have started 25 years ago for those people to be slowly eased into population. Now it's too late for so many reasons. Now Poland is in an irreversible death spiral. The best bet for young people now is to save themselves and emigrate unless they want to live in a 20 million care home.
@michaele3651
@michaele3651 27 күн бұрын
Not a chance. Poland has a significantly smaller population which is already in decline from it's peak of 38.6 million in 1998! Currently 37.6 million and losing annually over 100,000 people. Also the UK has the advantage of London, a financial capital, the English language, close ties with the most productive and powerful country (USA) and a large commonwealth. Also we have over 1 million people of Polish descent here giving us an edge as there is not the same proportion of Brits in Poland. What the UK is experiencing now is simply adjusting to the new climate brought upon from the uncertainties with the 2007 - 2008 financial crisis & Brexit. When the UK bounces back, which it will it will do the usual, which is outpace Poland.

@@pandabossanna The number or rather the structure is relevant. Poland is getting older. It means pensioners who do not work and do not add to the GDP will make a bigger share of the society. The same is true in Japan and now also in China. Every year now in Poland 150k more people retire than enter the workforce. The pension and healthcare costs will only grow while payments to the social security system and to the healthcare systems will fall.

No No No it is not average income at all. You got it absolutely wrong. It is output figure for country or per person in that country. But it says nothing about persons income at all. In theory you can can really high GDP and very low average income per person. Like for example if you are doing very high end pruducts with high added value , but you paying really low wages and salaries ... so you will have very high GDP but very low PPP ( and obviously very low living standard)
@pandabossanna
@pandabossanna 25 күн бұрын
Yes you’re absolutely right! I meant to actually say average income of the country per person living there but I missed off the “country” bit! Although yes that technically is still wrong as it’s not income but economic output, but I wanted to oversimplify :)

Uk is one of the best countries in the world. Especially Scotland. Poland isn’t. Poland is still a poverty country. The one thing that the uk could improve is to stop the high amount of EU people coming to the uk to better they’re life. It’s not the uks fault we offer one of the best standards of life. Our minimum wage that we give to polish immigrants they think is amazing. Coz Poland wages are shit.

@@pandabossanna everything I have said is true. The Polish migrated to Poland (location) 600Ad. Before this Germanic tribes dominated this region. Then around the Middle Ages Germans started to push you back to where you had been. You were mere minorities in larger empires for a long time. Your cities were multicultural with Jewish people dominating and German language being spoken as the language of education and culture. The polish were the under class. As I said previously, the Anglo Saxon Americans are wooing Poland now as they want to build their ego to play them like Ukraine has been played. The Slavic people have always been the cannon fodder of Europe. This will be true soon again for the Polish. Your ancestors were most likely from Ukraine and Lithuania (ethnic polish). Your country is built on shallow delusions. When you were in England, people there had been there thousands of years, when was their genocide? When was their mass movement of people? Their expulsion of Germans? Their famines? I have a KZbin channel too and I will be making a video on this. The Slavic people are on thin ice. Your time is ticking.

Do you think just because someone has a child that means that child looks after them in old age? Do you know how many people have multiple kids and are left in care homes anyway? Grow up. @ I actually know you because I taught on preply. Many of my students were Polish. I heard the wages over there and some were migrating to British Isles. The wages are way lower and rent isn’t as cheap as people say. 700 euro for an apartment per month. One of the Polish women was complaining about how stressed everyone in Poland is because they actually have to work really hard there. Social welfare in Ireland is the same as the average wage in Poland (1800 euro) and that doesn’t include the fact that rent and electricity etc etc is paid for. America is hyping Poland up so that you will take on Russia so the Slavs will be used as cannon fodder again as they have always been. Polish are not indigenous to Poland, they only migrated there around 600 Ad. Before that the Germanic tribes were there such as the vandals. Basically the Polish are being wooed by the Anglo Saxon Americans (British isle descendants) so that they will sacrifice themselves as cannon fodder once more over the next ten years.
