Everytime I see more information about eu5 I get more and more confident that they are attempting to merge the best elements of all of their games. Got the man-at-arms from CK3. Map and warfare of EU4. Economic from VIC3. Logistics from HOI4. Population from Imperator. They got it all

Initiative might work similarly to hoi4, in which it increases the chance for reserves to reinforce the current battle

Considering the warfare of the time, I think initiative might translate into essentially which side gains the *offensive* initiative in the engagement, likely providing a bonus to shock (if shock and fire is still a system in EU5), or otherwise attack and damage. Think Swedish military or a (successful) Highland charge manoeuvre.

The trade will benefit from materials for sure, instead of each trade good giving gold or some modifier we may have to trade for a good if our country doesn't produce it, I hope it's going to work like that.

Sounds like they took ideas from Imperator Rome and CK3 with needing resources for certain troop types and a levy system

Paradox for the love of this Franchise. FIX THE AUTONOMOUS SIEGE, and if you can’t do that then add A.I. Missions for army like you do with navy because micro managing entire regiments while carpet sieging and reinforcing your armies in battle and defending your nation simultaneously is completely exhausting and the enemy A.I. Perfectly calculates where its army’s can both siege, reinforce and defend all at once making them broken by the 1700s. Fix sieging or add A.I. Missions like HOI4 or Imperator.
