Fantastic video. Always useful and good for refeshers. Growing up in a family where we were always playing card and board games, probably have over a thousand hands of this amazing game. Going to be sending this to the inlaws ive gotten the bug of games into.

Thanks so much. My family was playing a ton of Euchre over the holidays. I love when a spontaneous Euchre tournament breaks out.

I think we ALL played lots of Euchre in high school - what else was there to do during a spare period?

A guy from Dubuque, Iowa taught me Euchre years ago. He told me, "if you're a Dubuquer you're gonna play Euchre."

We use the Joker in some games. Adds more strategies. Great game! Played it as a kid with my mom and other relatives. She didn't cheat, but she knew some good facial expressions to give you hints.

Excellent tips. For your last tip on leading a single ace, I think it's worth mentioning that if you have a single ace, and your opponent is going alone, and you have the initial lead, you should almost always NOT lead it. If your partner has the other 2 non-trump aces, meaning you have all 3 non-trump aces between you, it allows your partner to use them both to effectively stop the loaner if the person going alone only has 4 trump cards and a non-ace off suit 5th card. Otherwise, if you start off leading your loan ace, your partner has to completely guess which ace to keep for the last trick. If they guess wrong on the 4th trick when throwing one away, you may fail to stop the loaner.

This is an excellent presentation. I am surprised the "order up to not lose 4" strategy is in here. I thought I was the only one! lol I call it the "what's the only bid that could hurt you badly?" strategy and is dependent greatly on the score. We always play dealer must make it something BTW also I would like to hear further comments on... 1. The player to your right is your worst enemy; can do you the most damage. Such as, if they lead vs. player to your left leads, and they play last when you lead. 2. 2nd player should almost always play low (you touched on this some) 3. Never order your partner up. (mostly) 4. Who leads first is always a consideration when bidding. 5. Being voided in a suit or two likely increases your opponent's strength in that suit and their chances of making 4 points. 6. Let a bidding partner see you have a high card asap. Thanks again!!

Nice video. I think this is the first time I have ever seen 5s used as score cards. Here is one my friends and I debate all the time. You are in 1st position and the dealer calls loan in Hearts. You have Ace of Spades; 9/J of Clubs, 10 of Hearts, Q of Diamonds. What do you lead when trying to bust up the loner some time during the hand?

I go with the ace and hope that's their weak suit.

@@LegendaryTactics That is what my buddy says. My answer is the baby club. I figure the ace is going to catch the weak suit on trick 5 regardless (I don't have to split aces and have an otherwise weak hand). Leading the club could allow your partner to trump and ultimately take the trick. 4 trump and an offsuit A is a common lone hand. This gives you two chances to win. Only downside is if your partner has a guarded left and they play trump and get over-trumped. Of course in that scenario, I would look for a new partner :)

I was about to give my opinion which is never lead the Ace but the suit you have the most of while not having an Ace in that suit. The reason is that you're trying to lead something that your partner can trump in on while the person going alone has a card in that suit (they most likely have an Ace if they are going alone). Then the last card you play is the Ace. That in theory gives you a chance to stop the loaner in 2 of the 3 off suits. If I have 2 Aces I would lead one of them and save the other for the end (again giving you 2 chances to stop them). Doing it this way keeps you from having to choose which Ace to save at the end.

So if I’m two suited - A, K, 10 (clubs) and J, Q (diamonds) - and I get the chance to call, which suit should I choose?
