It's quite simple, if you have infinite Ricks, then you have infinite Ricks all believing that they're the Rickest Rick, and then you have a war between Ricks. But if you have Doofus Rick, then all the Ricks will agree that they're not the stupidest Rick. Doofus Jerry was just a consequence of needing Doofus Rick.

The thing is the fans would think everything that is "prime" is super OP and needs to make an appearance basically and onslaught of memes would come out like "who's next?" An episode of Mr poopy Prime, Bird person Prime, the Principal Prime? We already have a blue haired Beth Prime and a alternative summer. So making a comic was a great way to introduce this Jerry while giving closure to Jerry and Doofus Rick that we wanted ever since that episode

Honestly, 137 Jerry took too many lessons from Rick, I think. Including ones about self-destructive behavior and blaming others for his problems (as he yelled at Morty for what happened to his universe's version of Beth and Summer and complained, even though it's his fault they ended up dead AND they neither arrived or left by choice). It's also the ultimate irony that... well, Rick could NEVER let go of what happened to his wife. That same episode is when he tried going after the man who killed her (the same person who killed Jerry), in fact, when he had only stopped before since he lost hope of ever finding him. So he really wasn't like Rick (our Rick, at least) after all. Jerry really didn't learn much from Rick except all the wrong lessons. He survived until then, sure... but no one's luck lasts forever.

I just remembered in the dinosaur episode, Rick concluded that due to the dinosaurs evolving intelligence, another lifeform devolved into a not so intelligent giant rock to even out the dinosaurs which it would eventually wipe them out on each planet. The comic took place during S1-S2 of R&M. During that time Rick was able to be beaten, hurt, and die due to other threats. It wasn’t until S3 where they had Rick become an unkillable threat. And before the title “Smartest man in the universe” that was said in S3. S1-S2 Rick wasn’t the top dog until it was added later. Like for example the Devil was able to slap him without any of his S3 gadgets activating, or with him getting force choked in “Raising Gazorpazorp”. None of that would’ve happened if it was S3 and beyond Rick since he would have some system in place to stop it. The comic had Rick’s proper strength at the time before it got blown out of proportion in the show. (As well as the comics being well received and saying the writing is on par with S1 and S2 of the show)

I found this story a bit disappointing, Rick could have easily shoot doofus Jerry multiple times, simply shoot him, DJerry is still a normal guy I don't think he should be able even to hurt Rick punching him, and also Rick should have no problem finding his Jerry bringing him to that universe unmasking DJerry as the impostor to the rest of the family. Having DRick invent portals was really cool though, is not as refined has the gun but fits the character perfectly. DJerry was a difficult idea,simply making him has smart and powerful has Rick would have been lame.

Im telling ya, doofus Rick is the Rickest Rick... He is bassically a Jerry in his universe, but when he meets other Jerrys he doesnt go reflecting that back on them instead being genuinely nice and caring. And i suppose the same can be said about Jerry, once he realizes doofus Rick is different he doesn't jump on the hate train with the other Ricks as i could easily see him doing. I feel the angle between Jerry and doofus Rick draws some parallels to the Jericky episode. If Ricks and Jerrys could unite and prop eachother up instead constantly tearing eachother down they may not be able to take control of the universe, but they could take control of their lives and in turn the family and live happily like Jerry tried hopelessly proposing when doofus Rick had to leave...

On doofus Rick actually being smart you have to remember his dimention is part of the central finite curve, meaning he is still the smartest person in his universe just like every other Rick. The fact he managed to create portal fluid on his own proves this.
