I never really listened to this songs before. Its awesome❤. Love Bono's voice. Sometimes relationships are one sided. One blames the other. Acts like Jesus (perfect). Figuratively makes the other crawl. When I heard the verse WE NEED TO CARRY EACH OTHER. I never applied, thought, and said this to my spouse. Its sad how people in relationships can hurt and even belittle their loved one. ONE LOVE

I’m embarrassed to say that notwithstanding the thousands of times I’m listened to, and played and sang, this song, I only truly realized yesterday and today what it’s about. I know that it’s when you live through what a song is about, you REALLY understand it; but I’m not usually this dense; these words aren’t too tough. Maybe because it just happened to me and this is exactly how I felt… .

This song is not a love song-it’s a song about resignation. Bono actually said in an interview “The song is a bit twisted, which is why I could never figure out why people wanted it during their weddings. I have certainly met a hundred people who’ve had it at their weddings. I tell them ‘Are you mad? It’s about splitting up!’” He even said it was partially about a gay son coming out to his religious father.

That's the best thing about music... Its subjective to each individual. People interpret it the way the want.
@aaronnelson66994 жыл бұрын
Eh... that doesn't mean all interpretations are viable. I'd thoroughly agree that anybody who wants this at their wedding has horrible musical taste. I like ice cream and I like scrambled eggs, but I would never put ice cream in my scrambled eggs or vice versa.

i think it’s about family, but i can see how it can apply to any relationship. we are all imperfect and have probably been on both sides of this equation. either the one seeking resolution in a relationship or the one resisting - making the other crawl. we each have the moments when we can carry the other or be carried by the other. it’s such a finely crafted song that cuts deep to both sides of the equation. regardless of which side of this equation you are on at the time, this song can speak deeply to you

"One" already may be one of the best songs ever written with haunting lyrics that pull on my heartstrings & now more than ever I see a glimmer of hope in it's melancholy undertone. These lyrics were meant for me to see, to relate to and see what you've gotta do for Love before it's too late. Bono laid it out for us hopeless romantics in Love so that we don't take love for granted In order to truly Love someone U have to give it you're "All" or you end up with nothing. At least that's the meaning that I get from this sad & beautiful song. I take it as advice or a warning you must heed or lose love forever💔......One✊💕

These lines perfectly define and sum up a relationship with a girl I had. Fucking Horrible.
@helenlouise44615 жыл бұрын
@@samlewis7878 the same also applies to me with a man I wasted too much of my life with, waiting for him to change but never did. His promises always seemed genuine, and his apologies showed great understanding and sincerity. So I waited and waited, carrying on enabling his behaviour until one day, I gave up and walked away, despite the fact that I was still very much in love with him. I genuinely think he wanted to chage but didn't know how to, until it was too late. It was only then that he realised what he'd lost, and I had to live with knowing how much time I'd wasted and lost, in return 😢. X
