I've been to the Eugene Stoner room at Knight's Armaments in Titusville Florida. In that room along with the first AR-15s, AR-10s, and Stoner 63 LMGs produced there was a mockup of the XM274 next to his drafting table. Along a wall in the room there was an automatic cannon that was to be sold to the Iranian Shah before his deposing.
@Spookston
@Spookston 3 жыл бұрын
The other autocannon was likely the 35mm Talon. Ares designed it as part of the Eagle Air Defense System, which the Iranians contracted them to build.

Meh, that is nothing, Stoner only had a hand in designing them, he didn't actually design them. Now Browning is very different. Arms museums will have entire sections dedicated to him and he did far more than Stoner could imagine. Plus unlike Stoner, Browning was the real deal as the vast majority of his creations he designed himself.

I'm a religious person i hate to see people idolize normal people, without God we would have nothing, no weapons, no air, no cool little m16s, we'd be non existent, so to hear a person compare a guy who built firearms to Jesus infuriates me to the point of lividness. There's actually a lot about this system that is very similar to the G11's operating system. It's interesting that so many designs during that time period were fooling around with telescoped/caseless ammo and rotating push-through breeches.
@mobiuscoreindustries
@mobiuscoreindustries 3 жыл бұрын
Cause it's advantages are undeniable. It's downsides back then were not so clear. Don't get me wrong I think it still makes tremendous sense though I think it could work better if integrated into the concept of a cryogenic propellant cannon. You insert the projectile into the rotating cylinder as the back of the gun gets injected with the propellant. Once ready the projectile swings into place and the gun fires. This way you can separate the projectile and propellant in a configuration that allow both to prepare separately in specially designed compartments and you don't deal with the traditional issue of caseless because the cryogenic fuel cools down the barrel, reducing wear and preventing overheats.

Proof from the designer. About 2 rounds per second with under one per second at worst for sustained fire due to stab and FCS not the guns fault. Instant or near enough change of types and fast reloads. We know the answer as to why they (WT) bias one way over another.

Have you heard of the KA-50?

@@ronaldmcreagann6343 they say that the ka-50 and 52 can shoot long range anti tank guided missiles but if you in the hstv-l managed to hit the helicopter then you get the point. but i guess if you dont know how to use both vehicles properly (especially in realistic and simulation) then they are bad vehicles
