Dm is actually pretty slow on the arms. Though dm is harder on the legs than ac/dc type stuff from the past; dm is still not a good workout for the arms. Sadly I have to fish thru newer core or alternative type stuff for actual arm conditioning.

Such a sick video! Does the tension on the snare help a lot with the blasts? I mean, would it work on a snare with lower tension? If not, how can I make the snare sound deep though still having the response of a highly tuned snare head?

It depends on your technique. If you play with wrists, you can play fast at a lower tuned snare. If you play with fingers (like I do) you will have to rely on the rebound a lot. So it's easier with a tight head.

I don't do it intentionally. I just try to have my wrist stay as relaxed as possible and so my fingers just move around like that.
