In most of the occasions, yes but I can say that the first time I saw “my man” I felt the butterflies and after 10 years, everytime I see him, I feel them over and over again. No matter if I am in a relationship or not. Maybe someone can tell if it is because we are not a traditional couple and the fact that we are not together make me feel this way, but I I feel them, and cannot hide them.

If there’s one thing that I loved about LIB Dubaï is the couples living in separate rooms during the honeymoon. There was no pressure of being intimate. We tend to forget that these people just met and it can be very uncomfortable. We have heard some bad stories about that.

I didn’t get that Sally left because she wasn’t attracted to Medina. I thought she left because he made her feel insecure. He kept doing all that laughing, and even after she said it made her insecure/uncomfortable he kept doing it. And I noticed the face he made when the doors opened. 😒

Just for some cultural background: Germans are generally fairly emotionally constipated. As with any stereotype, this doesn’t apply to everyone, so don’t come at me 😄 I’m half German and live in Germany myself. I find these cultural differences within all of the versions of LIB to be one of the most interesting aspects of the show.

Looking at my Latina mother in comparison to my German father and their respective families though, they’re worlds apart in terms of emotional expression. My foreign friends really struggle with dating Germans because of this. There are even songs about this like „Aurelie“ by Wir Sind Helden.

The cultural background is mostly from history: two very awful impacts (the two world wars) and generational trauma. It has been studied, especially in comparison to our direct neighbours in language even: Switzerland. Swiss men act differently than German men, one example is PDA… the best book to go into that is called „Kriegsenkel“ and should be available translated, too. I did not know until a decade ago when I was wondering what’s up with the emotional unavailability 😂

They act robotic but then get emotional by a small remark. I don't get the sense that they are reserved. Plus Germany is very multicultural today. So is the cast in the honeymoon. Jen + Hanni only girls with 2 german parents. Boys seem like Pascal, Marcel and Ilasis, but slightly thrown off by his name. The cast is, Turkish, Italian, Congolese, Jewish, Togolese etc...

Maybe Shella is attracted to someone emotionally unavailable like Pascal because deep inside, she doesn't want to commit or get hurt again. Shella mentioned that she was hurt in all her previous relationships. Maybe her way of staying emotionally safe is by choosing unavailable Pascal, who is distant, not vulnerable, basically the opposite of Fabio.

Shella is getting on my last nerve! The way she talked to Alberta was absolutely uncalled for and out of line! I also hated how she treated Fabio. And why the hell was she chasing Pascal like that? What did she see in him? He seems so bland and non-commited. I don't get it. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I am a black German woman, who also has Togo roots, so I wanted to like her but... ugh.. 😬 And Marcel is weird. I am neurodivergent and I also tend to stare because I'm so focused on keeping eye contact and I'm just extremely awkward but this guy just seems off in whole other way. Maybe . From his trauma and mistreated in his childhood and how he lives his life now, shows his silence is how he controls his emotions, reflex and protection. Silent kid theory: 1) believe if they are loud, the adults will hurt them!! 2) silence to recharge is cos they are being people pleasers, don't want to rock the boat, so emotionally drained. 3) silent used to get attention from adults, trying their best to make them happy, which is manipulative cos they chose not to speak...
