I love the way Midge stood up to Mama ... like Ellen does. 😁

One of the best "Family" sketches ever! Joanne Woodward was fabulous, and it was nice seeing Eunice have a friend. ❤

Joanne Woodward was such a good actress of the 60s and 70s, and she married an actor that millions of women and men found to be gorgeous. Fun to see her here as Eunice's colorful pal Midge. I love how Midge calls out Thelma Harper on how ridiculously judgmental some pious and self righteous people can be. Good for her!

Midge reminds me of my Uncle Brian's 4th wife Barbara. It was the 70s, and us kids would just stare at her and admire her big blonde wig, fake fingernails, capped teeth, fake tan, fake eyelashes etc. I think about 75% of that woman was artificial 😂 My sisters and I were fascinated by her

In all that, with everything that they put on the page and on the screen, with all of the honest self expression that was being put out into a world that did not want that from women.... _this_ is your takeaway? Mate. God can handle it. You need to work on yourself.

The "Eunice" (Family) sketches are satire, and are always dripping with it. Not a mockery, an affectionate jab at Southern Americans from a certain area ... plus they are a wonderful look at dysfunction through a hilarious lense. One can't be hyper sensitive when it comes to comedy enterainment; life has few enjoyments, and Eunice is one of them.

Carol wasn't making fun of God. She was making fun of how certain christians behave. The family sketches were always social commentary and this one speaks volumes. I hope you finished watching it.
