Thank you. I hear horrible reviews of this horn and seeing you actually play it and show me what it looks like I feel better and I am so exited to join the world of band

I still like my Mendini euphonium. I have several Cecilio horns and all of them are good instruments.

I just picked mine up for $150 new. I did have to re solder the lead tube at the first joint near the mouthpiece. It was dripping water when I played. It plays great now though!

$150! That's incredible. Certainly would pay for the solder job, I'd say. They really are warm sounding horns. After a year, mine is still as good as new!

Thanks very much for the review! I'm a tuba player and would like to try out euphonium. All the other reviews don't seem to highlight the great tone you are getting from the horn. I ordered one from Amazon based on your recommendation.
@josephcernea726211 ай бұрын
The tone is exceptional, it is a large bore horn, so I think being a tuba player, you will like the volume of air this horn can handle. I've had mine almost a year and haven't had any issues at all. Best Wishes!

Well, I bought the horn. Cleaning the valves was critical like you indicated. The horn is great! It has a beautiful sound and playing euphonium is easier than I thought it might be transitioning from tuba. I've found using a 61/2 mouthpiece plays the best for me, but the included mouthpiece was pretty good also. I've sent my tuba to the shop to remove some dents and I'll play this in community band this summer. I think it will work out great! Thanks again for the review!

What is your opinion and thoughts on the difference between their brass and nickel plated version? I’m unfamiliar with the significance and differences. Thank you so much! My daughter is interested in following my footsteps in the USAF Academy I would like to get her the best I can afford. Thank you for your help!
@josephcernea72623 ай бұрын
Many people have said that nickel/silver plated instruments get a slightly darker sound. Silver plated horns are usually chosen by professional players. After playing euphonium my entire life, I can honestly say I can't hear a difference. The brass Chinese horns look better after a few years. The nickel tends to turn dark. If I were buying a 10,000 dollar horn, I'd go silver. For anything under 2,000, I'd go brass.

@@josephcernea7262 thank you so much for this reply! Helps me a lot! Getting the instrument for my daughter for high school band, went with the gold mendini versus the nickel, even though nickel was surprisingly cheaper. I appreciate the feedback!
@@josephcernea7262 thanks again! I especially appreciate your impressively prompt reply. Thank you so much! I got the brass medini and am hoping for the best!

What mouthpiece comes with the model you are playing?
@josephcernea726211 ай бұрын
Sorry for the slow reply, just got out of the hospital...it came with an unmarked mouthpiece but feels like a Bach 7C. I reviewed it with my Bach 5G. The mouthpiece it came with plays just fine, I just like a slightly bigger mouthpiece.

Do you think this horn should be thoroughly cleaned before playing to get its full potential? Great video also!
@josephcernea7262 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! I wish I had really gone to extremes to get all of the weird black sediment out of the horn. My horn is doing fine, but I got a black residue out of it for a couple of weeks of playing. Once it is completely clean, it is really a great horn.

If you want to marry a horn, you will probably have to move to California. Not sure it's legal here.
