Withdrawals can absolutely be deadly. Especially with alcohol. But like Chris said, alcohol use is common so people don’t think of it as being deadly. But opiates are absolute hell as well. OD’s don’t only come from people wanting to get high like usual. It can come from fighting off withdrawals. Your blood is drowning in a substance and your body physically can’t handle the amount that it would take to make the withdrawals subside. The link you used probably was referring to pretty frequent users. Like if Elliot just stopped using, he’d probably go through a lot of that stuff but might not need hospitalization. Rue hit an entirely different level though. For example, our bodies release something called GABA. Basically it calms you down and puts the breaks on panic. You have other neurotransmitters that do the opposite: keep you aware and help you respond to crisis. While using opiates, sedatives, or depressants constantly, your brain pretty much has no need to produce the former and has to produce a ton of the latter to keep you even half focused. So when you stop using, your body has no earthly idea what is happening and is pumping out EXTREMELY HIGH levels neurotransmitters that cause excitability cause that’s what it’s used to doing to counteract the drug. But now it’s just panic of the highest order for days or weeks straight. And that’s just one aspect. Your body has adjusted to the drug by slowing down or ramping up almost every function you have. Even motor functions suffer like what Rue was going through with the candy wrapper.

I cant wait to see what they say about it. Will they praise cassie's sister(like 99% of the fandom. Ps i literally can not remember her name, she is so irrelevant lmao) or Will they find an issue with it. I especially hate the whole outting of nate. He is the worst person in the show? Yes, but he is not the only one and that still does not justify outing a person. Expose all the crap he did, but not that lol

@@sebastyann123she didn’t “out” Nate as he hasn’t been actually stated by the narrative as being gay. If he was, that’s also something that Lexi wouldn’t even have known TO “out” him in the first place. If anything it was overly exaggerated riffing on the hyper masculinity of “jocks”. I get why Barbie Ferreira was left frustrated by the writing decisions in regard to her character tbh, it was weird. But she is an actress so portraying the character in the vision of the writer/producer/director is her job. Unless it's issues about bad behaviour or nudity scenes it's not really on the people making the show. However I respect her decision to leave if she felt that was best for her.
@valentinafangirling Жыл бұрын
Actors also have a certain responsibility on whether they feel like what they are acting out lets out a good message. If for her, playing Kat was gonna cause more damage to people like her rather than portraying something good, she was within her right to step away.

Personally, I find this show extremely valuable for exploring the dark aspects of our world & how that affects the development of personality, mentality & family dynamics. I don't bother to judge the fictional characters. There is such a wealth of information & experience being portrayed on screen that is real to so many. This show is challenging and in my mind an exercise in empathy, not to excuse any type of behavior, but to better understand the roots of the behavior itself.

I cried so much for Rue in this episode. She is really going through it. Her apologizing to Ali and him forgiving her right away broke me. I really love their dynamic together, so that moment was beautiful. Ali knows precisely what happened to her because he probably did the same things or even worse when he was using drugs. My god, but the end really sent me over the edge with her mom begging for her life. Like, just give her a bed, please. 😢 If you can't see how diabolical Nate has been in his relationship with Maddie, then I can't help you. The amount of physical and mental abuse he has put her through is insane. To pull out a gun point it to her head and then play Russian Roulette with his life on top of her is a new type of trauma. He's sick, demented, and deranged. I feel so bad for Maddie because she doesn't even have her best friend to comfort her after it. Cassie was a complete bird this entire episode, fuck her. Lexie and Fezco ❤❤❤
@leahmarie112 Жыл бұрын
Rue’s mom probably can’t afford to send her to a private rehab facility. She would need to apply through insurance and go to a public facility. She will only get a spot if there is a free bed and in the public system the wait times can be months. That’s the tragedy of it and why Leslie started to break down in desperation at the end.

14:00 Knowing that Sam Levinson (director) stole s1 from Petra Collins, we should treat s1 and 2 Cassie as two different characters.

exactly. learning about that shed so much light on the changes in s2.
@jordancharles8598 Жыл бұрын
Even if you take that story as 100% fact, Petra had nothing to do with how Cassie was written in S1... And all the groundwork was laid in S1 for Cassie to be who she is in S2, people just don't like it which is an entirely different thing.
@jaysax7381 Жыл бұрын

I try not to make negative comments if i feel they arent warranted or wont be helpful to a production. That said…. Dude on the far left is so emotionally immature and clueless in so many situations in life and the nuances therein that he almost kills it for me whenever he has comments to make. I have watched so many of you guys’ reactions, from LOST (how I found y’all) to GOT, so many others- but this one dude always astounds me with the “I would just beat they ass!” Or “man screw them!” Kind of shallow takes. Sorry to say it but geez. It’s distracting and upsetting. But I guess it’s good to see how the layman reacts to depth in a more shallow way, I dunno. I don’t like to make anyone feel bad unnecessarily, and I don’t like to single anyone out but MAN this dude is an intellectual and emotional buzzkill. I wouldn’t say anything if it wasn’t DOZENS of videos and shows he has been a part of that I have felt he contributes not only nothing but frustration, but actually contributes to an aura of lack of meaningful conversation and understanding. I know that’s yalls friend- maybe just not cut out for certain kinds of complex and nuanced content idfk. Sorry to say. Nothing against him as a person🤗
