I’m surprised that the British are not credited with unifying the language spoken in almost all Western civilizations, especially commerce. What’s incredible is that we are witnessing the West being divided partially due to Russian statehood inspired or directly attributed to be due to Mongol influence. The British conquered the world’s commerce through linguistics. It was both a divider but unified far more than we credit. The Soviet Union valued the land as a symbol of supremacy rather than any economic theory. Russian isn’t an ethnicity. It’s an idea to keep Russia together, collect taxes, and allows self-governing republics. Isn’t that what the Mongols did for governance?

I found the point he made about eurasia different empires and peoples were about to experience their own unique modernities but for our ability to organise violence better than them and so undo their progress. We stopped their modernity from happening. Ah well, they're gaining parity now.

I sometimes think racism is justified by different level or stages of development. Even a few decades can make a difference.

@julianfoster3581 I see what you're trying to say. But i think ethnicity is a real catagory. Trotsky, as far as I am aware, was the man who came up with the term racist and he did so in connection with antisemitism. I think ethnic distinction is real. It's just genetics. In late modern times 19th century till present with Europeans ascension we took our distinction as proof for the winning of history. In earlier times, an empire's prominence was seen to be from God or god's in contrast to the infidel or barbarians. I think different peoples distinctions are a good thing, and I wouldn't want to see them erased. Some people are more capable than others, and I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary as of yet. Racism is a very loaded and divisive term, and it's being used to bring the west done. I suspect that when the West loses its leadership, you'll see 'racism' directed more and more against people of European descent. Also, if eurpeans become a minority in their own lands in the next 20 or 30 years and lose their power, there too one fears for what may happen

Interesting points. I grew up in Australia when Europeans were just beginning to relate to the indigenous peoples as humans worthy of citizenship. There was still rampant racism and it was justified by the advanced techniques of the Europeans and their descendants is contrast with the obvious lack of technology of the Indigenous folk. But looking beyond that, Islamic countries are often ridiculed because women wear scarves: a practice that died out in most Western societies years ago. For some people this is evidence of Islam’s backwardness and even unwillingness to accept modern “logical” progress. I’m not suggesting this is logical but it is what it is😵💫

@julianfoster3581 yeah, I agree with the Islamic part. Distinctions that people make against others are often a sign of snobbishness, ie woke. But I'm still not convinced there's no merit that genetics doesn't play a role in a ethnic groups abilities.

Genetics could be a factor along with geography, climate, population density and diversity. One thing I’ve noticed in Western commentaries is a lack of understanding of ethnic diversity in many Asian countries. Take Ukraine for example. People assume it’s one homogeneous ethnic and cultural entity with little grasp of how many group are happy to live together but only under certain conditions. India and Pakistan are two other classic cases as is of course Russia.

American empires two worst habits, not openly acknowledging that it is indeed an empire, and an compltete and utter inclination toward criminality even when it's wholly unnecessary.
