BTW the My Bus Oxfordshire ticket has now fully launched so you can now travel for £6.50 a day anywhere between Reading and Daventry (I've done it ☺️) and between Cheltenham and Aylesbury. Many routes only partially in Oxfordshire have been included so great news for bus riding in the upper Thames Valley.

I had the rarest of opportunities yesterday to ride a brand new bus on a nice new bus route on my birthday yesterday(!) so rode like a big kid on the new Aqua 28 yesterday and enjoyed a day off in Henley 😎. The new single deck buses are in stunning livery (very cheekily like the Arriva livery but an improvement) and very plush inside. I took the 441 both ways 11:00 departure from Reading and 16:25 back from Henley. There was another Aqua liveried bus and a generic one seen on route. A lot more people used it than I thought would on a first day in school holidays so I think Reading Buses have done something daring that might just work. ☺️ The buses were on time too despite the roadworks in Caversham. Carousel are using a mixture of double and single deckers in red livery on the 800/850. Their buses too look newer than the Arriva ones. Also saw the 33 from Henley to Wallingford which must have been on an interesting diversion as the main road between Henley and Oxford was closed. The bus stops on the way still have Arriva on them. Was nice to see Reading Buses stop at the old surviving Reading Buses stop near the chip shop in Henley. Someone was out filming the buses the entire time we were in Henley. We found better things to do such as having a cold cider in the pub garden haha. There's a nice front seat on the 28's for filming btw 😉

Incredibly I haven't ridden yet on the X40 this year, I think even with the current hot weather we've only had a dozen or so sunny blue sky days so far this year, most of them too hot for day trips on public transport. Summers down south are either dull or rainy or a heatwave nowadays. You might get one reasonable temperature day for travelling between the bad weather and the heatwaves if you're lucky.

Is it dangerous to drive through the Queen Street? Why would buses be permitted to pass through a pedestrian path?

Used to live in Oxford years ago, before the city council started messing the place up. Haven't been back since. Looking at it now my first thoughts are god, what a mess. Concrete city centre with buildings looking like soulless boxes - like rabbit hutches, streets ruined by the so called 'traffic calming' schemes and such a general scruffy and tired feeling about the place. Glad I never have to go anywhere near there now.

The bus has to be only the few Enviro400/Scania N230UD's to have "Enviro400" on the engine flap.
