Dude. I had an electribe 2 once. Sold it. Bought it again. Re-sold it. Today i got another one. Then I remembered why i didn't like it. It was precisely because it didn't have a sequencer mode for notes. Saw your video. So useful. Love the electribe. Thanks!!!

Hi! Absolute beginner to everything in synths and grooveboxes so wonder how and where the sound comes from from the midi keyboard. Is it connected to a computer ? Could you just make a short explanation to as how you have connected the Electribe, midi keyboard and eventually a computer. Last question, do you think the Electribe 2 (also the sampler version) would be a good or bad place to start for someone just starting out?
@loopop4 ай бұрын
Sorry indeed I don't explain it in the video - MIDI is routed through a computer. you can do this in your DAW, but I recommend just getting a MIDI controller with a regular MIDI output and save the hassle. Regarding good place to start, It's not a bad place but there are so many other options in the price range, it's best to explore a bit and see what resonates with you. There's no right answer.

Nice tutorial! Missing a step record mode was a great oversight from Korg. How are you programming those sustained sounds? One of the EG knobs is labels Decay/Release, but I never found how to activate sustain (thus I can only use it to control Decay)? Cheers!
@loopop7 жыл бұрын
Philip+ thanks very much! You can get sustain if you turn off the Amp E.G. (I know, you lose attack and release). Hopefully we get ASR in a future firmware update
@Philipplus7 жыл бұрын
Yeah... but not having Attack and Release transients makes the engine useless for pads. I'm still wondering why they put the "Decay/Release" label on a knob that effectively is only a Release on an AR envelope. Hopefully you are right and a future firmware will add (at least) a switchable sustain to the EG. Cheers.

@loopop7 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! Regarding global parameters - I didn't change anything from the factory defaults - any old midi keyboard should work. This particular keyboard has MIDI out through USB and Bluetooth. I wanted to reduce latency so I hooked it up via USB. I could have used a USB-MIDI host but I just used my phone with MIDIMITTR routing the midi out back to USB and into the Electribe. Hope this helps.

Just want to leave my kuddos. Very well informing video. I am debating between an Electribe 2 and a Korg VolcaSample for my live set up. Given the Electribe is $400. What do you think about it as an overall tool for live performance.
@loopop7 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much. The "regular" Electribe 2 (E2) can't load your own samples, but the Electribe 2 Sampler (E2S) can. Compared the the Volca Sample - no doubt get the E2S. True, it costs a bit more than double, but you get orders of magnitude more... what the Volca Sample does is only a small feature compared to the many others on the E2S.
@allroads89787 жыл бұрын
/ volca sample is an amazing little box but it's like comparing a bike to a motorcycle /on the e2 or es2 you can play synth over drums- volca does even have a synth / there's ways around it but - / get both if you can if not then e2 or es2 / the volca is cool - best 160.00 Investment goin

I wish Amazon Prime had this cable for sale..
@charbax7 жыл бұрын
But still it is a bit funny to me all the tweaks and stuff you need to do. It's very impressive and for sure some people on KZbin are able to do some nice loops with this machine. All the complexity seems to be limited by the user interface. Seems like a huge giant work by the engineers at Korg to include all the functionality the way they do. But I can buy capacitive multi touch Android tablets out of China for $20, it just seems they'd be able to have a much more intuitive UI if they could sync their sequencer controls with a tablet or with a phone.. Korg could even customize/manufacture their own $99 Tablet that you'd be able to dock on the top or on the side of it. Same thing I think they should do with Keyboards, and I've seen some of them have iPad controls so maybe I should just look into what they do with that. Maybe they're already doing everything that I'm thinking.

How do I make the electribe map all the different pitches across the midi keyboard, without sacrificing memory? I'm talking about multi sampling sample packs. The folder has over 100 wav files.
