He's right though, in most passenger cars air can enter through the front grill but once inside the engine bay it has nowhere to go, its only real option is to build up underneath the hood and start lifting the front end of the car up, which would cause the steering to feel light and disconnected. Thats what he means by "i can feel it in the wheel", a fix for this would be to have vents for air to be able to escape either in the fender or on the hood
@jurj973 ай бұрын
You're on the money, that's exactly what they did
@Hughjanus7202 ай бұрын
This isn’t true, any modern car has vents and grills inside the engine bay strategically minimize this exact issue. You really think a person on KZbin (you) just pointed out an issue that millions and millions of dollars of development and research failed to recognize? Have a close look under any modern cars engine bay, or in it, and play find the vent holes

I did something similar last year in Nebraska while driving to PA from CA. The winds from the north were pushing my old Yukon damn near off the highway as I was heading east, and my pitman and idler arms were in rough shape at the time. I taped a piece of dental floss to the hood so I could anticipate the gusts a bit easier and counter steer more responsively. That was longest 6 hours I've experienced in a long time, but it worked pretty well.

The 7.0L FE only had to make 80%of its natural hp to do what it did. The key was torque and endurance. They ran them at 6000. But they could turn 7500 rpm’s. That reserve makes all the difference. Mario Andretti said once you get the car handling, the driver always wants the power. Given a choice on a compromise , they will take power.
