The song is basically about them enduring hard times and still standing tall. They are comparing themselves to a cactus, saying that they stand alone in hard climates in order to make a beautiful flower bloom, like a cactus. Many people assume (I don't know if they ever confirmed this) that the song is about their lives as trainees, where they had to endure hard and uncertain times, in order to make their dream of debuting come true (this is their debut song, not sure if you mentioned that) They were one of (if not the first) artist to introduce hard-style (the genre of this song) to kpop. They also got quite a bit of attention for their live performances of this song, since they wore hot-pants, which is not typical for male artists.

It's not assumptions, Cactus was written after the members told the producers their pre-debut stories. I'm pretty sure they talked about it multiple times, but I can only remember Show Champion interview right now.

The choreography is definitely the star of that comeback! And tbh, the special effects of the first version of the MV hurt my eyes a bit. Like many kpop videos, it should have a warning for peeps with epilepsy, but like, right across the screen in bolded letters... A.C.E can generally do no wrong but that was a bit much. The dance version is AMAZING tho!

Basically what happened with Chan was, in late 2017-early 2018 he and Jun went and competed on a survival show called "The Unit" the point of that show was to help idols who didn't quite hit it big yet have a 2nd chance at success and basically show off their talents through competing on this show. Long Story Short, they compete thorugh performances, which the viewers watch and then vote in, they're ranked, the lowest ranks get eliminated each round. Guys who ranked in the top 9 in the finale will debut and promote as UNB, which Chan finished in 9th place. So he promoted with them for about 10months (until UNB contract ended). UNB was the temporary group that came out of that show (along with Uni.T the girl group), all the members were basically current active idols in other groups or former idols.

This is the first song that introduced me to kpop. I saw Jun dancing on 1M studio and didn't realize that he was in a kpop group. I watched their dance practice to this song and feel in love with them. They are the best! I love them so much.

It’s been a while u say at the beginning of this vid. In reality now it’s already been over a month and my Choice heart is crying out for more A.C.E content! Do you remember if you’ve reacted to any of their content in the twitch streams? I don’t do a great job of keeping up with those... for other a.c.e videos to react to I recommend Callin, their first comeback after debut, and If You Heard, which is a song they wrote for their fans that has the lyrics translated into English in the description on the official mv! In Take Me Higher era they released 5tar (Incompletion) with just the four members while Chan was promoting with UNB and then in Undercover Era they released 5star (Completion) with more *delicious* harmonies, redistributed parts, and a special added part on the end that Chan sings. I lowkey screamed at the harmonies when I listened to the complete version the first time, I still do honestly. Also in Take Me Higher era they had 2 subunits of Jun and Wow and Donghun and Byeongkwan who each had diets on the album. Jun and Wow’s song is called Black and Blue and the whole thing, vocals, rap, dance, you name it, scandalous. I am attacked. Donghun and Byeongkwan’s song is called Dessert and it gives off very summery vibes to me. When I first listened I didn’t love it but I went back and now I’m obsessed with it, and I will fight anybody who listens to it once and decides they hate it. As a gift for fans they released a cover of Young Blood by 5SOS and holy vocals. I had to keep pausing the damn video to catch my breath. For their The Unit audition Jun and Chan did a short version of their Gashina dance cover, but the group does a full version too. From their busking days they did a zombie dance and the makeup, the dance, holy cannoli. There’s a lot of videos of them from busking days so if you have time to just check some of those out I’d definitely recommend it, just to see how far they’ve come! I’m really whipped for A.C.E... sorry for this long ass comment I just really love these boys. Edit: how could I forget “I Feel So Lucky” (am i a fake fan?!) it’s entirely English which is *chef kiss* nice ig but also Jun goes off. It’s a collaboration with a French artist. Kings. I stan kings.

Chan has promoted for a year with another band that was formed within a survival show, meant to make a new boy group and girl group, called The Unit. I would also recommend checking out some of their pre-debut busking performances. My favorite is the zombie one! They also have an English version of Cactus! As well, check out their collaboration with Hcue for a song called ‘I feel so lucky’. If I remember correctly, they made the choreo for it in only a few days and Chan had to learn it separately because he was still with UNB at the time and they only met up to film.

Regarding Chan: Jun and Chan went on the show called ‘The Unit’. ‘The Unit’ was a show for idols to get a second chance, perform as part of a 9 member group (if they gained enough public votes to get to the top 9) and to gain fans for their group. So ace had newly debuted and they went on to gain fans. Chan managed to get enough votes to get into the top 9, and therefore was a part of the male group, UNB. UNB promoted two EPs. Whilst Chan was promoting with UNB, ace had their Take Me Higher comeback, therefore Chan couldn’t promote with them. The Chan thing: Jun and Chan went to an audition of a program called The Unit. They passed to the next phase but Jun lost at some point, but Chan, did it, he was in 9th place. The group where he promoted temporarily, was called UNB, wich stands for Unit Boy, cause you also have UNG, wich stands for Unit Girls. Yeah, the youngest member's name is pronounced "Chan" just like "Jackie Chan" XD And the group he was part of was because he was one of the winners of the final round of an idol competition show. Donghun and Byeongkwan actually both won the final round of a different show (A.C.E ARE SO TALENTED AND I LOVE THEM SO I LOVE MENTIONING THAT AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE) but that group didn't get a chance to promote because the guy running the show tried to screw everyone over with horrible contracts and every single person refused to sign so...
