Agree. I would also use a part of that 10 billion to launch ORCA if Sweden agrees to jointly fund and co-develop the plane with India as a 5 minus gen plane - using the Kaveri 1 engine, later upgradeable to Kaveri 2. This would be a backup plan in case AMCA runs into a mess. Also to jointly develop and market a plane with a world class plane maker on an equal basis.

It s delayed and mis managed program by mod. Immediate requirement can be solved only by Qatari Miraj and additional su 30. As fast production and readily available. Alternative approach to aquire 60 mig 35 should be back up plan as they are cheap and can replace mig 29 with their mro, training,storing, and other cost being next to zero with current facilities. Why did India not buy 114 fighter jets for its airforce in the last 10 years? Why purchase only 36 Rafale? When India ordered 36 Rafale, no other country in the world was going to buy Eafale planes. Because India placed the order, several countries came forward and placed order for the Rafales. Now, India is at the "back of the queue". What will happen if India gets into a major conflict with its Eastern and/ or Western neighbors? Where is the airforce to fight the conflict?

But the problem is their order book is full. There are countries which have ordered and are waiting. Just ordering, whether G2G or anything else won't solve that problem. The Indian government should have ordered more aircraft instead of just 36. Or ordered more immediately afterwards.
@prasunbose3114

@@siddharthshekhar909 See there is no other solution right now. Any aircraft you order will take at least 5 years for delivery. At least in case of Rafale there is atleast an option that France may start a production line in India from which they can export it to other countries and we also receive our aircrafts. Also the disadvantage of purchasing 114 fighters together is by the time we receive all the jets, which will be of F4 standards, France will receive F5 standard Rafales which will be significantly superior to the F4s.

Requirement of 42 Squadrons is highly exaggerated. This requirement was assessed when there were no drones, missiles and rocket force, missile air defence systems etc. The Indian Air force will never venture into enemy Air Space. We know how panic situation developed after so called Balakot strikes. As long as there is strong Gujarati business lobby running the country there will never be any war. If attacked India will strive to find negotiated settlement. In such a situation we need to re assess the the exaggerated requirement of 42 Squadrons. The production of Tejas MK1A to MK1Z will go on at steady pace @ 6 aircrafts per year. By 2050 we will complete Tejas MK1A to MK1Z program. IAF will not allow more than 6 Tejas MK1A aircrafts per year. They will always stall the Tejas program demanding additional features. In year 2050 we will start inducting Tejas MK2, this year is going to be 100th birth anniversary of Shri Modiji. We will pay tributes to him and his Atmanirbhar Bharat Programme in 2050. In the meantime if we feel low on fighter Aircrafts we may import them on emergency basis like we did for Rafale. All this will bring in new opportunities for the gang of corrupt IAF, politicians and defence officials. The Rafale loot and Atmanirbhar Bharat Programme can run side by side. We should not insist on make in India as this kill the opportunity to loot. Be it Rafale, Euro fighter typhoon, Sukhoi, F15 etc all against 30% advance payment. Balance on delivery. This makes it easy for commissions in Swiss bank.

Having said that, Gripen + Tejas Mk2 + Amca will need 1500-2000 F414 lifetime engines & the current deal for 99 engines just doesn’t cut it. hi alpha defence bro , why cant we use russian jet engines , the latest ones on tejas and spend money and collaborate with france to make our gtre engine useful , i guess we must pay them the tuition fees if we are not able to crack the problem , regardless of the price they ask , or we could ask russia to help , but our priority must be adding fighter jets always every month new addition . the way things are going on , we will ruin our airforce . america is the most unreliable supplier of critical equipment ( mojhe pehele pata tha syapa karega america jet engines ke liye , esi konsi supply chain problem aa gayi jo solve nahi kar sakta ) , our planners must have had spent money on indigenous jet long time back in partnership of either russia or france , sadly they never did . chota tejas bane ga nahi , barda milega nahi , satyanash kar rahe hain airforce ka , irritate ho gaye bhai mmrca ka tamasha dekh ke . or they feel air force is irrelevant during the time of war like in 1962 >?
