Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of Lexus ES-2018-Best in Class-Large Family Car/Hybrid & Electric

Euro NCAP performs a series of crash tests on each model tested:
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid barrier
- an offset frontal impact test, 40% of the width of the car is striking a deformable barrier
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole
- a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking systems (car to car, with a pedestrian and a cyclist target), lane support and speed assist technologies and seatbelt reminders.

I only watch them for the active safety tech at the end. Most of the crash tests are much of a muchness. The differences in the AEB is what is most interesting. Shame they don't show all of the tests they do.

Due to the front wheel drive, the width between the wheels and the door is too short. It won't survive more crashes. In the actual car-to-car crash test conducted by China, it was defeated by the A4. Lexus should be more conscious of safety.

Anything that achieves 5 stars in these tests I would never buy because that means its fitted with lots of electronics which can override me the driver, I want to control my car!

wtf? one time me and my mum were in her SLC and some guy in a ford focus decided it was a good idea to stop at the bottom of a hill. the AEB saved us from at pretty nasty ~30mph crash.

Gravemind Actually it was a very steep, short hill. but long enough to not see the top of the focus. also she was braking, but also BAS (puts full brakes on if you aren’t providing enough pressure to avoid the accident) helped it.
