Euro NCAP Crash Test of Renault Scenic 2016

Euro NCAP Frontal Impact takes place at 64 Km/h, 40% of the width of the car striking a deformable barrier. In the Full Width test, 100% of the width of the car impacts a rigid barrier at 50 Km/h. In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 32 km/h into a rigid pole.

+xperia4132 I actually have a 2005 Laguna, love it's safety features. Renault have been surpassed for car safety now however.

Why are the AEB tests done with different speeds for each vehicle tested? Without any kind of consistency whatsoever? How is this comparable this way?

It's good that they're starting to add seatbelt pretensioners in the back seats in new cars now, but why only in the outer two? I know that the centre seat is the least used, but surely everybody's safety is paramount regardless of where they're sitting?

The centre seat doesn't have anything in front of it until the windscreen 6 feet away though so it doesn't really need them.

My family crashed in a renault scenic over 10 years ago when i was 12. there was a seatbelt in the back-middle seat, though not as good as the others. If there wasn't one, i would've probably flown right through the windscreen from the force. The seatbelts cut into our necks from the impact. Definitely need that back-middle seatbelt!

Something strange happens in the full-width rigid barrier test. Why does the driver slide down too much? Euroncap says: In the full width rigid barrier test, protection of the front seat driver was good, apart from the neck, protection of which was rated as poor, based on dummy readings. Renault reported that the high bending moments seen in the test were well above expectations and that a modification will be implemented to ensure the design performance is achieved. Does anyone know is the Renault made any modifications to fix this problem?

the espace has a gravity center higher and big tyres don't slip on the concrete during the test but on real road it 's different.
