Bryce, I love the videos but as a fellow enthusiast can I recommend something for your next video for the strut top? The item you want is a pass through socket kit for the strut top. You can find them at harbor freight or amazon for cheap and you wont take the chance on marring up your strut and potentially costing you a few hundred to replace. They work great for many other things too including replacing all my deep socket items that don't need impact strength tightening. Yeah you don't get to zip the top off with an impact but once it's loose you typically can. Again pass through socket kit, cheap and can be found at a lot of places.

Totally understand and I appreciate the lookout! Personally I've been doing it this way for years.. and every shop I've worked at or seen work also just zip it with an impact both ways. It doesn't take a whole lotta force to hold that strut tight. But I honestly should be doing it the right way, I'm going to add that to my tool list. If I was working with some expensive coilovers like ohlins or something I'd definitely want to have the right tool for the job

@@BryceJordanProductions Good stuff, I've done it that way for years before too so I get it haha. If you have the extra space/cash it is definitely one of those QOL improvements like the ball joint tool.

Have these on my TTRS and zero added NVH. No clunking no noise. Very happy with them.

I had these installed on my R awhile back. Unfortunately they do clunk over sharp bumps, despite being advertised as giving "zero increase in NVH." I'm still glad I have them, though, because there is definitely less understeer than before. The outside edges of my tires don't wear out first anymore! And you probably already know this, but setting the XDS to "strong" is also extremely helpful. The car turns in really well now with these two mods (along with a fatter RSB, obv).

I used to play with xds alot. Tighter courses I'd turn it up to help me get around cones and stuff. Didn't like the way it felt on more open courses or on the street though. Sometimes I would slow me down too much it felt like a weight pulling me on that wheel. Definitely fun to play with though it's a neat trick system! Glad you liked the kit too, wish I would've done this along with the 034 ball joints awhile back

I installed these on my RS3 about 2 years ago. Recently developed knocking/popping from the strut mount, so now I have to pull the strut again and figure it out. I found drilling the strut mount and assembling the pucks to be a PITA. It took me forever to drill the strut mounts apart.

Funny you say this… my 034 strut mounts shipped today. Mine sound HORRIBLE. You can see the bearings when you jack the car up. -3.8° really wore them out quickly.

I got mounts and bearings cause I know my bearings are s h o t. Might as well do them since you’re pretty much taking them out anyways. If they’re still good then you have spares 😉

I solved my strut noises but replacing the strut mount and bearing. It was actually the bearing making the noise, after removal I could reproduce a click when rotating it. It was corroded and deformed from 5 years of use.

Sure did not. I’m not sure they make anything DV related for the mk8 yet, I may be mistaken though.

How comes you removed the whole leg and not just the strut? Thinking I’m possibly going to have to do this as I’ve tried to open up the back of the strut but it just won’t release.

Easier, less hassle, less headache lol. I can have a strut out in 15 minutes with the knuckle and rotor attached. Takes twice as long if you try and remove the strut from the knuckle in the car. Time is money 😃
