So, healing berries! You can hold a certain amount (10 by default), any more go in your medicine pouch til it’s full, and after that to your stash. But if you use the readied ones up, you can hold up on the d-pad and it’ll move the ones from your medicine pouch to the “ready” state. It takes a second or so, and can leave you vulnerable, but it’s really useful and the game only told me when I was near death and out of ready berries. That or I missed it like an idiot… Certain skills increase the amount you can have ready, pouch upgrades will increase the amount in reserve! Hope that helps someone!

I have a few tips: 1. Silent Strike, the skull means they will die right away. I thought it meant that they are far above your level like it is in many other games I have played. 2. At the very beginning, when you come upon a machine that has been killed with arrows, go to it first, do not go hoover up all the Ridgewood. I did this and I caused a bug (?) that stopped me from progressing. 3. Shopkeepers will eventually open as you do quests. It is not the Oseram lady's fault that you can't talk to the stitcher.

I saw this one in a video, so it's not mine, but it's too good not to share. A fast travel pack will work underwater. Just use the pack when Aloy is within a couple of seconds of drowning, and voila, you'll be saved. This trick allows you to pick up materials from deep waters long before having the breather, as Aloy doesn't need to worry about saving oxygen for returning to the surface.

my most appreciated tip was not to sweat the blocked paths too much since it's usually just some loot I'm still gonna sweat all of the unresolved map markers, obviously, but when I *do* finally get to it and it's just loot, I can say "whelp, zoe did tell me so"

Utilize the "Create Job" for crafting upgrades for weapons, armor and especially for pouches cause it will give you a shaded area where that particular animal will be located on the map, saves ALOT of time particularly with the rarer and smaller animals. And for machine components it will give you a reminder when you scan the machine before the fight of the component needed for an upgrade. BTW other game developers. Take note on the character design, facial animations, personalities, fabric, metal textures and most impressive of all, the skin textures, the properly sized pores, tiny hairs, water/sweat drops and the lighting. Skin is one of the hardest things to do really well and they nailed it. You can even see when they reused some character faces but changed the attire, personality, accents and little nuances so its barely noticable, it feels like an entirely different character. Truely amazing work, Guerilla games makes most other major studios characters look like PS 3 era games. To that point though, I must include that Aloy's hair does feel a little wonky at times lol but that's minor and not all that bad just a little too 'floaty' at times

Upgrading - don't bother with green or blue. I upgraded my first Hunter's Bow and armor set to their max stats just to get a feel for the workbench, but so many main and side quests give you weapons and armor as rewards that it's not even worth it to upgrade until you get into the purple level of items. Just upgrade your pouches for storage (same as in the first game) and keep spare parts in your stash. Also, when you do get a higher level of a certain weapon, sell the lower leveled one to a merchant for extra shards (or keep it in your stash if you want to save it for some reason)

If you don't want to stress about missing out on machine materials but also don’t want to play on easy mode, you can turn off this bit alone by setting the difficulty to 'custom'! There's lots else you can modify in there as well so if you enjoy a challenge in some aspects of the game but not in others, definitely give it a look.

Apex Predators appear at a higher chance at night. Apex Predators have the valuable parts for Legendary equipments. Also the annoying "nerve" components.

in settings you can turn climbing markers permanently on which can be very useful especially if you dont like spamming the pulse button all the time to find those handholds.

You can fast travel out of "dungeons". I discovered this when playing HZD on new game + right before HFW came out. In the bottom right corner of the dungeon map, you can see the floors. Press up (or down, as the case may be) on the dungeon floors until you reach the outside world map. Then just select where you're fast traveling to.

SO glad they added the option to customize the Quick Select menu, and also to send things automatically to your stash so you don't have to constantly drop stuff. So much about Forbidden West looks amazing. I’m only on a lowly PS4, but by the time the expansion comes out that may change!

Not gonna lie, I haven’t been this wowed by a game in decades, i was wowed by final fantasy 7 and Chrono cross back when i played them in 99, but nothing like this. The open wolrd is so beautiful and engaging and the combat and progression system are well done. Amazing game!🔥

This is 2022, they need to start moving past shit graphics, it also looks slow and clunky at times. Sekiro was an example of what those games could be.

You can permanently add the yellow climbing marks in the settings, so you don't need to spam the scanning button. You can play on Story or Easy to always get all the materials from the machines. That way you don't have to shoot a specific part to collect that part and miss out on other parts from that monster.

Instead of playing on an easy difficulty you may not want to play on just so you can collect all of the components without having to shoot them off, you can put difficulty on "custom" and set "easy loot" to "on" while setting everything else how you want it to be. So you can basically play on normal or one of the harder difficulties without having to shoot components off to collect them.

It is a fun enough game, but the first was overall better even with the much more limited beastiary. They seem to have spent too much time trying to make Breath of the Aloy instead of making Horizon 2.

I think you're referring to the tearblast arrows: you'll find them later in the game in hunter bows, mostly, though some sharpshooter bows have them. Zoe

Around 4:40 when you full-draw the arrow, the outside of the aiming circle has four little lines like x and the arrow turned white and glowing. How did you do that? Was that a skill? Or ? I cant figure it out

If the game setting is on easiest you don't have to worry about tearing off parts you can just destroy the machine and it won't hurt the parts

You can actually change that under difficultly settings. Customize and then set 'easy loot' on. Make everything else normal, for example, or after ones needs.

Big game changer for me is that you don't have to be on Easy or Story to get this. You could play on "Custom" and put everything on Very Hard but still turn on the Easy Loot option to prevent stuff being lost on kills.

BAH... if you need a specific machine part for an upgrade (task it) just turn your game to Story Mode to kill it and 'all' it's parts will be on the corpse, than turn your difficulty back up.

I think the number one tip is letting them know the game is a broken mess for a lot of people. The graphical glitches, shimmering, game breaking bugs and shutdowns make the game borderline unplayable. I can stomach 10 minutes and my eyes hurt, it looks awful in either mode. Not paying £80 for a game you literally can't play, having to wait for patches so you can is the tip.

I didn't think I would like the 1st game at all so I didn't buy it until it had been out for 3 years. After hearing such good things about it I started getting curious so I got it on sale. I wasn't into the idea of fighting machine dinosaurs but I ended up enjoying the first game a lot. This one is substantially better in every way. I'm 30 hours in and absolutely loving this game. After 30 hours I still keep stopping to look around at how gorgeous this game looks and the gameplay is so smooth on performance mode. If you have a PS5 I'd suggest you get it sooner rather than later, but that's my opinion. You are certainly entitled to your own feelings about the game.
