Building my 3 clutch 2.93 right now... this helped with some visuals from my instructions
@Thorhack5 жыл бұрын
Yooooo! That diff cover and mount solution is incredible!!!! Just two welds underneath to the chassis rails? You could even tie it into a cage or x brace! I didn't know that cover existed! I've only seen the weird adapters or z3m ones!

Thorhack That’s the plan. I’m gonna run diagonals off my strut towers to the top of ea ear mount.

@@EuroGarageOfficial hell yeah dude. You're an inspiration man! Can't wait to see more progress!

This just reminds me about how badly I need to build a 2.93. So much suck running a 3.73 (albeit 4 clutch) with the ZF320 - besides fact that the ring & pinion seem to be eating each other now.

Why install the rear arms separately from the front section. You just install the complete rear end in one thing .

What is your final drive? 2.93 or??

What’s the torque spec on this inner allen bolts?
@zambuzan5 жыл бұрын
Don’t you have to adjust the lsd preload when you take apart the internals? Check for clearances, etc?
@zambuzan5 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I think I meant backlash and not preload. To answer my own question, I guess not bc you didn't touch the output flange (crush bushing, etc)? But if you can shed some light on this, that'd be sweet!
@towlie9115 жыл бұрын
Oscar Rodriguez he didn’t replace the bearings so the backlash doesn’t need to be set. Preload is determined by Belleville washer
@zambuzan5 жыл бұрын
towlie911 which bearings? I’m unfamiliar with lsd’s in general and trying to understand them
@towlie9115 жыл бұрын
Oscar Rodriguez there’s two tapered roller bearings on either side of the ring gear and spider gear housing. The part he lifts out has them on either side. There’s another one on the input flange. When you replace these the position of the pinion gear changes relative to the ring gear. You can adjust the position with metal shims in the bearing end caps that hold the roller bearings in place. If you reuse the original bearings and the shims, the gear contact patch and backlash stays the same. It’s only when you replace the bearings that you need to reset it. The bearings usually last up to 200k miles and replacing them adds a lot of work so most people skip this.

@@towlie911 What happens after 200k miles? I'm currently at 230k lol but the car has been babied since new. I rly want to do this 3-clutch upgrade, but I'm guessing I would experience extremely high wear due to the warn out bearings? And is this the bearing you speak of: 33131204568? If so, isn't this what he's knocking out at 10:51? Thanks for the info!

What'd you use for the undercarriage? And did you wire wheel aaalllll of the old coating off??

Oscar Rodriguez Upol Raptor liner Black. No. Just cleaned thoroughly and sprayed over it all.
