You actually watched it, nice! As a book reader, I agree with your assessment and I'm not complaining about that kinda stuff. You just gotta take it as it is. They're two different stories essentially, at this point, so I'm fine with what the show does on that level. They guy in the video comes off as pretty mean spirited, but I more so recommended the video to you, for you to get some information on book Euron, and how badass and crazy he and his storyline is, not to shit on show Euron. I think the easiest way to avoid these kinds of comparisons from the more angry book readers would have been to simply change the guys name. He doesn't have anything in common with Euron and is a completely different person, so why not give him a different name altogether? They did the same thing with Asha (Yara) and it worked out well. Also, I'd be totally up for live readings from you!

I think at first you should read both dramatically and normally, see which feels better for you and the audience. Example: Prologue of Book 1- dramatically Chapter 1 - normally Chapter 2 onwards - decide which is best

I think that they should've had a kind of halfway between book and TV euron in the show. Someone who had plans to marry and dominate cersei and effectively rule through her, and perhaps had the dragon binder horn, which he could've used when dany invaded. It wouldn't have been possible to go down the book euron / ultimate god villain route, unless there had been about 2-3 more series. Just not enough time to do that character justice. Buy they should've made some attempt to make him more relevant in the show.

By the way if you like anime you should react to One Piece and if you have not watch it give a try to theclone wars cuz a new season is coming out (if you like STAR WARS), not disney mostly

I agree with Euron being inferior to his book counterpart, but I think Ideas of Ice and Fire (and a lot of book readers) use the wrong arguments. The show Euron is a completely different character (barely an adaptation - as if we started calling Robb Stark "Jon Snow"), however it shouldn't be an issue of how much it's like the book, but rather how much it fits into the current story (in this case, the show's canon). Euron being this magical and mysterious dude would not fit, he would be too major of a character - we'd need to restructure the entire show. That's not the story the writers wanted to tell, so they changed it.

Exactly. And also, time constraints limit tv shows. So obviously plot lines have to be simplified or even completely cut. Yea, as book readers, it’s disappointing, but there’s no need to get get pissy about it like “ideas of ice and fire”. Like... does he realize if the show were to include everything true to the books, it would be like 40 seasons long?? He should’ve focused on what makes book Euron awesome, but instead, we get 10 minutes of bitching about how the show is different to the books.

The entire show should have been restructured for such a character, I could give a rat's ass what the showrunners wanted to portray, your excuse could be used any time the GoT showrunners botch something, like Dorne, the "it's an adaptation" defense only excuses so much. Stop defending people who don't give a fuck, or at least don't care as much as the original creator, George, does. HBO has experienced unprecedented success due to GoT, even Rome didn't experience the level of success GoT has. If they wanted to, they could have expanded the amount of episodes and give unprecedented amounts of funding than they already do, in fairness to the amount of money and success they've enjoyed, but I know how naive that is, the price you pay for giving a masterpiece of literature over to shrewd businessmen, the amount of money everyone has made outweighs by far the amount they've put into it, and that's just the money they've made with HBO subscriptions, not including DVDs, Merch, props, and collectibles.

I was super disappointed with the show Euron. Especially considering they got an actor who could have easily pulled off the insane cruel charm of Book Euron. Then they turned him basically into a frat boy who became a pirate. So wasted potential. The material was there, the acting talent was there, and they just did euron so dirty.

At first I was super disappointed we didn't get Euron from the book. His first scene on the bridge was fine, expect for his look, but the kingsmoot was literally the worst thing ever. I cringe just thinking about it. But I kind of like Euron the way he is now, season 7 and 8. He's not on the same level as he could have been, but I enjoy him for what he is.
