Onride video in front row of the wooden roller coaster "Wodan - Timburcoaster" from the manufacturer Great Coasters International in the Europa Park in Rust. The rollercoaster was opened on March 28, 2012 and is located in the Icelandic theme area of the park. It is about 1050 m long and gets about 100 km/h fast. The coaster has three trains, each with twelve cars. In each of the cars two people can take place. The minimum size for passengers is 120 cm. The roller coaster was named after the Germanic name of the Norse god Odin. The term Timburcoaster is composed of the Icelandic word "timbur" for wood and the English word "coaster". The railway was built in the Icelandic subject area on an area of 1.6 hectares. For the construction of the wooden roller coaster about 1,000 cubic meters of pine wood were used, which was mounted on site. In the complete construction there are a total of about 21,000 beams, which are held together by about 1.6 million nails.
For the design of the waiting area the Nordic mythology was chosen. At the beginning of the waiting area, a large entrance gate was built, flanked on both sides by two Vikings. After passing through the gate, you enter the Viking village "Midgard". In addition to the normal waiting area, it is possible to hire a single rider ("single rider"). The queue leads through five different areas of Norse mythology. The first thing you get to Yggdrasil, the world tree that embodies the entire cosmos. On the way you come to Schwarzalbenheim, the underground dwarf kingdom. This section is designed like a mine where gold and gems are mined. The next station leads to the realm of the goddess Hel. Hel is half dead and half alive. The hourglass in her right hand stands as a sign. The path continues through the Midgardschlangentor to Niflheim, an icy world in the north, which is inhabited by frost and frost giants. If you have left this place behind you, you will reach the exact opposite of Niflheim, Muspellsheim. This is the Kingdom of the Fire in the south, inhabited by fire giants and dominated by its leader Surt. Next, one encounters Nidhöggr, a serpent-like dragon who lives on the world tree Yggdrasil and torments the dead. In the final scene, the giant Mimir guards the spring of Mimir, which lies at the foot of Yggdrasil. To gain powers of vision, Wodan gave an eye as a pledge to drink from the well of Mimir. Then the Rainbow Bridge Bifröst from Midgard leads up to Asgard, where the Valhalla is located. The Walhall is a resting place for those killed in battle. This is the entry point station for Wodan - Timburcoaster.
