The best advice I heard on this channel was that if someone is willing to teach you something for free you should listen well. Sometimes when someone gives us advice we take it personally as an attack when they are just trying to teach us something they know.

I'm 66. Inside every old person is a young person who is wondering what the hell happened! What I like most about being this age is the wisdom I have gained from my many mistakes. If you learn from your mistakes you never have to suffer the consequences from them again because you don't repeat them.

What's funny is that you can NOT pass your wisdom to the younger generation because they will think your ideas are obsolete. They have to experience the same things themselves and draw conclusions to learn, and by the time they learn they are old too

The greatest "gift in life" is to find that one person to spend it with. Whether it's a He/He or She/She or Male/Female relationship as long as you find that one person to spend time with, life is special. My greatest accomplishment in life, was finding that one person who I love more than anything else in the world. The Children we had together are the second best accomplishment for sure!!!!

At 81 I am conscious of time passing and that the end is coming near, but as I see it, to live every day with something special in it, something to look forward to, take exercise seriously and keep in touch with friends and especially my granddaughter is the best way to be.

As an Italian Living in America my best words of wisdom would be to slow down and smell the roses. When I was younger I was always busy working and always get busy with a lot of other things. I never really slowed down . Life goes by so fast that one day you wake up you're an old man or an old lady. Adopt the slow food movement that was pioneered by the Italians and French. Be grateful for every day good and bad and again most importantly slow down and smell the roses and enjoy the simple things in life.

One of the most important lessons of this is to hear what they say. They still feel 18-20 inside. You don't change, you are the same person. Your body has fallen apart but you are the same person and it happens so quickly. One day you are young and you turn around and you are middle aged. Turn around again and you are old, but inside you are the same person. You just step back in sadness because you realize that you are deteriorated, old, and undesirable. Priorities change because your position in society changes.

The Balkans where I moved to from U.S. is the same. These people know how to relax, enjoy life. Total opposite of U.S. why I live here permanently now. I tell my American family members, friends in the U.S. about this great lifestyle and the first words out of their mouth always is, 'I could never live like THAT!!!'. One actually told me, 'When I'm on the road, I yell at slow cars to get out of my way, I got things to do'. She has been retired for 20+ yrs! That's how corporate brainwashed most Americans are, and she admitted so.

Joe, you learnt the meaning of il dolce far niente 😅😅😅. Do you like it more? I moved from Montreal to Italy in 2019 and I couldn't wait to return to Canada. And so I did. I think it depends of where in Italy. I was in the North, I found it quite boring. From Canada, I love both Montreal and Vancouver.

If you find bars, night life, malls, shopping, more interesting then the ancient architecture, a slower paced life that most Americans have zero interest in, along with different lifestyles, cultures, languages they should remain in U.S., that is so toxic and boring to me!

@@wanderingwarrior5626 hi. No, I'm not into that all. I'm actually European by birth and very close to Italy. Used to be my super soul country. But I lived there enough (and in many other places on all the continents) to know it's not the same to live and to visit. I find living there quite challenging. I absolutely love art, and I think that's one reason to cherish Montreal and I also adore nature and here, Vancouver wins. Canada is a very interesting mix of Europe with N America. On the other side, if we talk about Europe, Spain impresses me the most for living. And Poland is a beautiful surprise, too. The way I see it, a country is an entire package, you can't take just one aspect into consideration, neither only the bad or the good. And for me, Italy is not a winner overall, sadly. Neither US. But Canada, Spain, maybe Australia, NZ etc are - talking about long term! (Short term there are maaaany countries worth trying, there is a huge list).It depends on the field of work and necessities, expectations, openness to the world, age of course (I'm middle aged). In the end though, everybody is different and that's great.. there's a place under the sun for each of us ☀️

@@dianabalan You have the right frame of mind. A open mind! Very hard to find in many countries now, especially the U.S., where I'm from. Almost no one there is interested in knowing about, visiting other countries. I've been to over thirty countries, lived in five. I'm capable of adapting to most countries, people, so never a problem for me to live in another country. Keep on the path you are. That most will not take! Preferring the well worn safe route.

I turned 60 last year. In 2017 I was in a hospital thinking I was dying. Those 7 days of thinking in that hospital bed made me get out and do things I’ve always wanted to do. I bought myself a mustang convertible. I went to Hawaii and to Havana. The memories of those trips come back to me every time I get into my car. I don’t regret doing those things I regret having to almost die to do the things I really wanted to do.

The goal in life is to not have too many regrets and when you make mistakes to learn from them and try to fix damage. That way you are not carrying too heavy a burden. We should net regret too much because everything that has happened in your life is largely decided by circumstance. Hopefully you try to do the best you can with what you have. You can not regret too much of the past because it has made you who you are today. The good and the bad. If you have learned from your experiences and are trying to do better you are on the right path.

I love it that most people nowadays get younger at heart and in their minds. When I was a child in the 1960s, old people were different. At 60, they were old, felt old and wore clothing for old people. And they were very conservative, not accepting other cultures or ways of live, not to speak about sexualities. Even - due to advances in medicine - the bodies work like younger ones.

Yes, young peoples love of money, buying expensive things to be happy, impress others, enough is never enough, following others, no original thoughts, quick fixes that fix nothing permanently, drink, drugs, lying, cheating to get what they want, be popular, fit it!
