The Palace of Versailles, a symbol of opulence and power, stands as a testament to the grandeur of French monarchy. Built in 1624 as a hunting lodge for King Louis XIII, it evolved into a magnificent palace under King Louis XIV, also known as the Sun King.
During World War I, the palace served as a hospital for wounded soldiers and a center for charity events. In World War II, it was occupied by German forces, who caused significant damage. The palace's treasures were evacuated to protect them from destruction.
On 4th August 2024, the stars finally aligned, and I made my way to Versailles. Despite having visited Paris four times before, this was the first time I made it to the palace. This visit was filled with wonder and excitement as I explored every corner of this historical marvel. The blend of past and present, luxury and legacy, left an indelible mark on my journey.
