@michaelstein7510Ай бұрын
Yeah, I do think there is some lingering genetic component of that still present in Americans today. We’re the descendants of Europeans who took a massive risk emigrating to a mysterious foreign continent with no guarantee of prosperity or even survival. That gives us an optimistic, “can-do” attitude that you can still see a bit today.

@@michaelstein7510 Totally in our DNA. Most of us were the "poorer" Europeans so we left. So, we hit the ground running when we came to USA.
@michaelstein7510Ай бұрын
@@lukespooky That’s true, but a lot of that was due to timing. While Europeans were rapidly industrializing and conquering the world in the late 19th century, the US was still small and largely unconcerned with foreign affairs outside of the Western hemisphere. It took us a while to recover from our civil war in the 1860s. We were finally ready to take our place as a great power after the First World War and haven’t looked back. By that time, the age of global Western conquest was done, but a new era of technological innovation began, and the US has certainly been at the forefront of that. Putting a man on the moon when nobody thought it was possible decades before is just one example of that American “can-do” mindset. Americans are a stubborn and optimistic people. We don’t accept failure easily, and keep chipping away at problems until they’re solved. No obstacle is too great. I definitely don’t see that default mindset amongst the average Brit or German these days. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just a cultural difference. Americans prefer optimism to brooding. The World Wars seem to have really crushed Europe’s spirit, but for the US, World War II was a major positive turning point in our nation’s history.

Just remember about 90% of Canadians hate the guy on a personal level. The liberals only got like 1/3rd of the popular vote. Of Liberal party voters most are completely at odds with his social politics. The Liberal party needed young blood, but they needed access to the old money, so they picked a son of a previous leader. The Liberal party was obviously left wing on a bunch of issues, but its bread and brutter was catoring to old Canada, where the history goes back many centuries. Old Canada including the french and more British parts of the country disliked the Americanization of their country. So the Liberals were seen as the party for the more British and French parts of the country. Liberals were fundamentally nationalists, and fought for the rural traditionalist side of the country. Meanwhile the new Canada/west just wanted to be American's. Point being the Liberal party is collapsing. The conservatives are set up to totally dominate in the next election. So many of the liberal parties policies were based around supporting the older parts of Canada with actual history. Now that they're doing the opposite they're imploding. The CBC was set up to give rural Canadians a voice. Now the CBC is used by the Urban Elite to stifle the vote of rural people. EDIT: It was also a catholic dominated party, can't forget that.

Another reason for the council tax rise is due to the increase in Employer National Insurance, this is the National Insurance tax the company pays for employing someone (on top of you as an employee paying Employee National Insurance) from 13~% to 15%, Councils also have to pay this Employer National Insurance for their employees so the increase means they'll also have to pay more which means you have to pay more through your council tax.

Your future isn't dictated by your past unless you decide it does. I wish folks in the UK would be more proud of themselves, fly your flags high and proud at every house. Just do it. It's part of developing the morale you need to get the future you want. It's a mindset but it has to spead. Talk with your neighbors, buy then a flag to fly. Grow your pride, gain the confidence you need to make changes you need. Only you can save yourselves. Vote reform. Sweep the elections on every level. We showed you how to do it. Come together and save your country.

When they took Christmas from the schools in our state, we put on our own play. We stood outside the school board offices and their homes blasting Christmas Carols, or singing them, the entire month of December. You have to find the loopholes and find a way around them. If you don't stand for something, you will end up with nothing. Americans are just more willing to find a way around, and rebellious by nature.

What drives the American optimist is patriotic pride; other countries call it arrogances, but we just see it as a "can do spirit", or the pursuit of the American dream. We don't see ourselves as a superior people because we aren't a singular people to do so but a collective of many people from around the world, so we're more of an idea then a people; who's ancestors all had a dream or mission and took a gamble to move to a new land with next to nothing to peruse a better life based upon merit and hard work and not because of their family name or social position; the me against the world attitude which still resides in their offspring still today.

I don't even think optimism is the right word for what Europe needs, it needs dedication. The more I hear and read about the EU, the more it looks like it has a case of blank project paralysis. And they need to do something, even if it is a mistake. It don't matter what it is but do something to get the gears moving. If you want my suggestion I would say you should work on getting into the CPU and GPU markets, if for no other reason than national security issues.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Case in point: UK bros are not going to be able to vote their way out of this one. Sorry to say, but sitting back and waiting for the next election cycle only to change the uniparty manager and nothing else won't do you any good.

That's a common "tactic" of the brits. They can not accept responsibility for the failure of their government and anyone who calls it out is a "doomer". It's what you get from a people who spent their life thinking they are somehow superior and enlightened, sargon and his fellow brits have been suffering from this issue since before BREXIT, being completely unwilling to recognize that the tories would never do a good job and that nigel is going to abandon the effort to give the conservatives a win. And we all know how the following years went. tbqh Trump winning will probably act as a pacifying agent for most Brits pushing them to think "yeah we can vote in our own trump and it'll get better" while utterly ignoring that such a thing can not happen because there is no "trump" to elect in the UK
