A lot of people that build foam buildings use a Mod Podge/paint mix as a basecoat to help with the paint process, and harden up the foam. You can also add to plaster if you want to take that route. The build is coming along nicely though

You have been busy! The house is really taking shape, especially like the way you've managed to show the damage to the walls and roof and giving the impression of an interior....without an interior! It will be interesting to see the next phase to this build.

Looking good. The weathering stencils are interesting - a better result than I expected! The laser cut wood parts are very well done. Good stuff. 👍
@ModelNerd3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Andrew. Yes, I think with the weathering stencils there is a sweet spot in terms of distance (stencil from model and also airbrush from stencil) as well as PSI and paint thinning. I'm also slowly, finally, realising that weathering effects need to be fairly stark in the initial stages or they will disappear by the end. I'll be using the stencils on some upcoming kits, both armour and aircraft, to see how they do in each situation. I might also try them for adding the mottling pattern when using the black basing technique.

Well done, looks really cool. I would like to see what you would create from scratch 😉
@ModelNerd3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I'm creating a scratch base for this from XPS foam (about a third done right now), and then I have plans to build a barn for my Jagdpanther to hide inside :)
@ScaleMilitaryModels3 жыл бұрын
@@ModelNerd cool. I’m building a barn for one of my diorama right now, are your going to make yours from foam or wood?
@ModelNerd3 жыл бұрын
I haven't decided yet whether it will be a brick barn (so foam) or a wooden one (using popsicle /ice lolly sticks). I'm leaning towards wooden, but I also want to make it quite big (and need to, with a Jagdpanther inside it!).

Hey I was wondering what are some good brands to buy diorama trees from because I don’t have a good selection at any local places
@ModelNerd3 жыл бұрын
Hi. I've never bought any pre-made trees, but have made my own. You can make basic ones using just sea foam and scatter/flock. Or you can use wires and clay to make the trunks of larger trees and then use the seafoam as the smaller branches.

All right thanks

Have just ordered one,looks great, would primer on the foam help?
@ModelNerd3 жыл бұрын
The primer sort of helps (I used Tamiya rattle can), but because of the very high surface area of the foam I found the spray still missed a lot of spots. Overall the thick layer of artist's acrylics was cheaper :D

Looks great. Top skill level...... but.... those roof tiles upset me. Look really odd being all joined together along the top in a strip. They should be all individual as surely that's how tiles work? I'll reserve final judgement for the next instalment
@ModelNerd3 жыл бұрын
I'm inclined to agree. With hindsight I should have cut them all apart into separate tiles. Hopefully it won't be too obvious on the final model.
