US Marine here. Deployed to Afghanistan twice. I'm stil laughing. Most NATO countries never put real skin in the game in Afghanistan outside the UK and Canada. Those that did deploy somewhat sizeable forces (like France & Germany) typically kept those combat units well behind the front lines and other contested spaces. You can say that Europe "helped". I can say that that help was piecemeal at best and the US ultimately did all the heavy lifting (as usual).
