Great chat lads. Ronnie if you retire from snooker you would be good at presenting and interviewing. I remember watching the 1985 match with my Mum and Dad. Back then when there was 3 channels. More people watched the snooker not just because it was so entertaining and skillful, but people watched it because the other 2 channels were not as good! How I miss the 80s with its simplicity. Them days will never be back unfortunately. Great to watch the classics on KZbin though. ❤

You have to love the respect and admiration that Ronnie has for such a great player like Dennis. Two completely different eras of snooker, played on tables and cloth that would be considered garbage by todays standards, but we all understand that people like Dennis, Davis, Higgins and the rest helped pave the way for great champions like Ronnie, Trump, Selby and the new crop of amazing players. I wish snooker had a bigger screen presence here in the states, but there’s no way in hell they’d televise a 68 min single frame like they do in the UK.

Snooker's the only spectator sport that absolutely captivates me. I remember so many incredible frames watching the old greats as a kid. Never really understood things like football or tennis, but snooker? So fascinating. Largely because of the players. They weren't horrible to each other, mostly. It's a game where your enemy is yourself, not the other person.

@johnp5154 жыл бұрын
Romamb Ted Lowe never said anything remotely incisive about the game of snooker. He had the famous whispering voice which was a nice gimmick even though he was not commentating near the table anymore thus had no reason to whisper but it became part of the image of Snooker when it took off in the 80’s and 90’s so fair enough but even compared to Clive Everton he was lightweight let alone compared to ex-professionals like Taylor and Stephen Hendry who always call correctly which shots options players have and such-like which Lowe rarely did. Nevertheless, it’s true that no one could say “This is unbelievable!” “Or “The final frame, the final black” the way Ted did in 1985.
