It´s surprising that Zverev has not won a grand slam title yet, because that guy has every shot in the game. Very hard to beat when he is playing at his best.

It's not enough to win GS. You need to know when to use all of your weapons. In crucial moments Zverev often chokes. Even with the best case scenario he lost from 2-0 lead to Thiem in the final of AO

Strange match. I watched the whole thing and it was as if Zverev knew that he didn't have to play anywhere near his best to win. Tommy played at a very fast pace and was completely dictating the play, winning and losing points on his terms, not Sasha's. I think Zverev knew after the first few games that Tommy was never going to do enough to win the match, and all he had to do was hang in there and watch Tommy rack up enough unforced errors to lose the match. And that's exactly what happened - Sasha didn't play his best, Tommy had chances, but fumbled at the finish line. The SF against Novak or Carlos will suit Zverev a lot more weirdly I feel.

Finally someone who recognizes this. Zverev was probably already thinking about the potential semi final against either Alcaraz or Djokovic. Both energy-draining opponents. You can assume that he wanted to preserve the most possible amount of energy, and that reflects his performance today. Present when needed, but other than that, let the other player do the job.

Even if Zverev was drastically pushed by Paul at the particular points, German tennis competitor has managed to keep the whole showdown under the composure. Besides, he has gained the most considerable points at the most critial portions against Paul, conserving his energy in the third set within the continuum. It was definitely the toughest clash that my favorite tennis player has competed by now in AO. Huge congratulations to Alexander Zverev for attaining such a scintillating glory!

Why does Zverev always grunt like he’s about to sneeze?
@fred3r1k
@fred3r1k 2 күн бұрын
There is an interesting reason for that my friend. Based on longitudinal studies of biomechanical acoustics in professional tennis players, Zverev's characteristic grunt exhibits a unique 73.2 Hz frequency modulation that suggests an evolutionary adaptation of his vestibular system engaging with sub-optimal adenoid positioning during high-velocity rotational movements - a phenomenon previously documented only in hibernating Alpine marmots under laboratory conditions.

Here is one easy prediction: Tommy and Tiafoe will never win a slam if they play any of the top players in the tournament. Fritz may win one US Open like Roddick and I still give Korda a chance, but it's doubtful and Shelton is already very good (better than Foe now) so he has better chances than Tommy and Tiafoe.

If Zverev wants to reach the final he definitely needs more control about the game and a much stronger performance.

In some points he have to go to the net to end the point, but he freezes at the base line. If he could improve this and playing more aggressive, he is ready for a grand slam. Otherwise its not enough I think.
