Yea i actually liked this and I am preparing for a Euro trip for WW2 historical reasons. My Grandfather landed in France and I lived in Zorin Germany near Hahn AB as a kid. I am 37 years US Military and preparing to retire and I want to check my bucket list. Great video

You have to visit King Tiger "Nr 213" in La Gleize and the Panther in Houffalize. Both out on the street and both mostly intact. In La Gleize there is also a museum.

Apparently there is some incorrect information here. Firstly the damage to the barrel was caused after the war by Belgian deminers who discovered a live shell in the gun tube. For whatever reason it was deemed easier to just blow it up in the tube. Second its unclear if it was the town priest or the mayor's son who stopped the tank from being scrapped. Its possible it could have been both I suppose but accounts are unclear. Third despite what the paint inside the tank says this tank was neither knocked out in December 1945 or even December 1944. It was knocked out on January 14th 1945. And last this isn't an M4A3 Sherman as indicated inside the tank. This is either an M4A2 or a late model M4(75). The bulges on the front for the small hatches gives it away.

There is another one at Beffe near Rendeux that is between Laroche en Ardennes and Hotton. This last one is with a long barrel and was abandonned along a road due to fuel shortage during the battle of the bulge. A photo is existing in the "After the battle" periodical. This tank was moved to the village of Baffe long after the battle.

Crew knocked out😂
@peabase9 ай бұрын
@@jeesustelija655 Indeed. It looks like there was a squib round that got stuck in the barrel. Then they foolishly fired another round, which must've ruptured the breech and killed the entire crew. This tank was rendered scrap.

I dont know if was a normal person a soldier or what but the only idea i have now is why that senseless man scraped the tank almost entirely 😢

Muito interessante, só me intrigou que a pintura interna estava bem conservada, mesmo parecendo original, aparentemente não houve nem explosão, nem incêndio.

The Sherman. Nicknamed the ‘Ronson’, because it lit first time….cruel, but true
@m26a1pershing79 ай бұрын
Post-war studies conclude that dry hull Sherman burn rates were an par with its contemporaries, at about 60%. Wet hull Shermans had signifigantly reduced burn rates, between 10 and 15%. The Ronson lighter nickname in inaccurate, or at least manipulates the truth.

some say that Ronson commercial came up after the war - 1950.

the other nickname- "Tommy cooker", was not about fire. It is about being in a tank in the Saharan sun, no air conditioning in those vehicles.

Shame they vandalised that beautiful patina with the green paint
