The first year of the ascending order of points that is commonplace today. The funny thing is, the voting here goes completely smoothly, whereas one year later it'll be a disaster. I just love the atmosphere in the crowd when the host country races ahead in the early stages. If only it had lasted like this...

A funny tribute to the first voting to commemorate Eurovision's 25th anniversary, with Marlous Fluitsma pretending to call the juries on an actual phone - a different one each time! This is the first voting with ascending order of points, thankfully. The hosts do marvellously well, amassing 3 full marks and with a 13 point lead over their closest challenger at the end of this part. Sweden's 3rd place at the end of this part would sadly be a false omen.
