Eurovision 2010 is such a weird year for me, it's filled with quality songs that I love and are classic, but there are also so many that are straight up creepy and kinda unsettling, and let me tell you, that stage is NOT helping!!
@eurovisiongal7007
@eurovisiongal7007 3 жыл бұрын
Odd take but I kind of like the stage?? I always associate it with the year and the songs to the point where I can't imagine them being performed anywhere else. It gives a dark, mysterious vibe. One thing I do dislike is the audience being sat down and quiet for the whole thing.... So weird to see MaNga performing this crazy high energy rock song, then the camera pans to the crowd, all in their chairs like 😐 yeah, arenas are better in that aspect.

2010 was a great year. There were definitely more good songs than bad songs. I sometimes agree, sometimes disagree with you, but that's okay. Here's my opinion! 39. Croatia This one annoys me. I've never liked the sound of girl duos/trios. 38. Belarus The fact that this boring song managed to qualify is beyond me. Also, the singers don't really sound well together. 37. Latvia Oh, god, I really don't like this one. I have always hated her voice, it feels too whiney for me. 36. Poland This one's a weird one. And not in a weird way that I might like it. 35. Israel Yeah, I've never understood the huge fan hype behind this. I do always get a good laugh whenever I hear his fail, though. 34. Norway This one's just a bland ballad. Skip! 33. Azerbaijan Yeah, another bland ballad. The staging was nice, but the song's nothing special. 32. United Kingdom Weirdly enough, I kind of like this ironically. However, the fact that it's irony that makes me like this song puts it so low on my list. 31. Slovakia A nice ethnic sound, but again, this is overrated by fans. 30. Georgia This one's not great. I don't hate it, and it's clear that she sings with her emotions, but it feels generic. 29. Malta Another generic ballad. I like the chorus, but the other parts are meh. 28. Slovenia At least this one's interesting to listen. But they missed an opportunity to improve their song to a great folkrock track. 27. Armenia At this point I'm just running out of things to say about these generic songs. I liked the performance, though. 26. Lithuania Hah, this one's a classic one. Good track for laughs, but it's not close to the level of Verka Serduchka. 25. Ireland So, Niamh returns with a ballad that would have worked in the 90s. Nice try. 24. The Netherlands This one's a cute one. I really like the interesting staging and the overall vibe from this song. 23. Greece Great Greek song which, once again, represents their energy and style. Good pick. 22. Portugal I really don't know why, but I like this one. Maybe it's the effective delivery. 21. Finland Gotta love the great sound of Finnish folk. In addition, there's a catchy chorus. 20. Denmark Slightly overrated, but I understand why. The performance was great, the song, although a bit generic, still works, and the chemistry between the duet is good. 19. Cyprus I've always liked this one. Simple, but catchy and good. 18. Sweden Come on, when Sweden actually sends a pretty good song, they fail to qualify. I would easily let something like La Voix to be left in the Semi Finals instead of this one. 17. Russia I don't really know why people give crap to this one. It's such a nice song. 16. Bulgaria Miro's energy sells this song to me! I love the buildup and, of course, the "OHHHH" parts. 15. Germany A good winner with a catchy tune. But I liked 14 songs better. 14. Iceland I like the techno sound and the vibes from this song. This one's a definitive sound of Eurovision. 13. Ukraine The vocals are incredible, the instrumental is incredible, the atmosphere is good as well. I really like this one! 12. Estonia This one's unique in a great way. Sometimes it sounds a bit creepy, but I love it. Interesting entry, to say the least! 11. Bosnia & Herzegovina Good hard rock song! Very well performed as well. 10. Moldova The man. The myth. The legend. Epic Sax Guy. And that's only one of the reasons why I like this one! The song's full of energy and it's catchy as well! 9. Switzerland I like the sound of this one. Sounds classy, yet still cool. The chorus is the most definitive part of the song and it works so well. 8. Spain I love the atmosphere in this one. In my opinion, one of the better Spanish entries in recent years. The stage invasion was funny as well! 7. Romania Ah, another classic one! Paula and Ovi work so well together as a duet. A well deserved 3rd place. 6. France This song just screams: Party! That's what I like about it the most. It's filled with fun energy! 5. Albania Albania somehow managed to top 2009's entry and send another catchy tune, filled with great vocals and great instrumentals! 4. North Macedonia Another great rock tune. Hell, if there wasn't that weak rap part, it would actually be close to perfect. 3. Serbia I love the instrumental section of this song. Love Milan's energy and the way he performs this one. Really great one. 2. Belgium A simple song, but it just works so, so well. I'm glad that people noticed it and managed to put him in the 6th place. 1. Turkey This, people, is how you do a nu-metal song right! The song has fantastic sound, the vocals are on point! They even managed to make a kickass performance! This is by far my favourite ESC song from Turkey and my favourite from 2010!

Hi!! Thank you for the comment, it was cool to read your opinions ❤️❤️❤️ Turkey's song is just SO amazing, everything is on point, high energy, exciting, original. Definitely one of my favourite ESC songs too! I do wonder if I underrated Macedonia's song in my list a little, it's a pretty decent rock song even if the staging/rapper doesn't quite work.

And straight from the 70s. 36: Kinda dull 35: this is solid but not amazing 34: I like the epicness in this to be honest 33. Mediocre 32. I won't comment anything here😂 31. I am a a fan of the Portuguese language as well. 25: Solid 24: I can't stand this song. 23: Amazing!!! In my top 10 22. Okay I guess 21. Nope. Never liked this song 20: Very pleasant and ethnic 19: One solid joke entry😂 18: Epic Sax guy😂 17: I was dancing to that when I was young now I am bored of it😂 16: Pretty song 15: Haha so catchy. I am Greek btw 14. Such a captivating song 13. Good 12. Her attitude is amazing. Very nice song 11. Such an injustice it didn't qualify!!! Such an artistic entry. 10. My second place!!! I love this entry. 9: I love this one a lot as well it's in my top ten. 8. Great ethnic song. And a stunning and interesting woman singing it. 7. Mediocre for me. 6. This is a bop! 5. It's okay ish. Better than most Swedish efforts of the last years imo. 4. Nice lyrics and performance. 3. Such a catchy and jazzy tune. 2. Never saw the appeal of this song 1. My winner as well. They were so damn robbed back then. I never fully accepted this robbery.

34: I sort of like it too, but he just comes off so utterly creepy... 30: I think Macedonia kind of had a rock phase 2010-2013?? I wouldn't mind seeing more of it tbh, especially now as of 2019 their staging is improving. 26: Portuguese language is cool! I like how they literally always use it. 17: I DEFINITELY overplayed this one back in the day!! But I haven't for a while so it's grown on me again. 11. This one is so divisive!! But I love it too. 8. I read that Eva wanted to represent Armenia in 2012, in Azerbaijan, before they withdrew.... yes, she's a really likeable and interesting person. 7. It is pretty mediocre but I can't help but be nostalgic for it!! It was my favourite back then, very wannabe teen Beyonce! 2. It's pretty simple combo of a catchy fun and modern song, and Lena being cute and loveable! 1. People keep asking the band even now why they didn't win ESC and they're always like "why do you keep asking, it's been nearly ten years!" 😂 I actually saw a really cute article a few months ago when they said they'd re-enter if Lena did so they could have a rematch!! But that couldn't happen unless we got Turkey back, or.... MaNga for San Marino??

here we go again 37. ...I kinda preferred the song that almost went to Eurovision (Far Away) instead of the one we got, even though that song isn’t particularly the greatest entry either...apparently people in Belarus complained about that song and we got Butterflies instead...not sure why, but I don’t know the full story so I can’t really judge. All I can say is...nice wings I guess? Kinda cool? For the time? 36. [insert comment about how this year had a lot of wings/angels/whatever over fine? songs] 34. Y’know, now with context I’m even more disturbed with this entry...still kinda enjoy the song, but that live is yoikes like ye said. 33. Weirdly I used to like this one back when I was getting into my Eurovision phase, now after a year I find it...kind of a guilty pleasure? 29. I would say that’s the highest I’ve seen Ik Ben Verliefd, but I’m sure it’s probably higher somewhere...yeah it’s a stupid song but I think the hate might be a tad overblown. Might just be me though. 28. Dammit, this one refuses to leave my head either...god this was such a campy year, it’s not particularly the best song but it’s fine for what it is. 27. This feels like something that would appeal to my mom, she probably would’ve voted for this back in 2010 if we actually lived in a country where we could vote, lol. Not a bad thing, it just gives me that kinda vibe because my mom used to play songs like these all the time when I was little. 22. Yeah, this year probably has some of my favorite non-qualifiers. This entry, Finland, and the sorta obvious Slovakia usually come to mind. 19. GET UP AND DANCE TO OUR EASTERN EUROPEAN KIND OF- will always be engraved into my head. Love the little stickmen in the background, they certainly made the most out of their lack of LEDs that year. Love how somewhat painfully honest the lyrics are. Not good with politics so I can’t say for certain how well the song has aged lyric-wise but it’s a bop. 18. This was such a painfully bizarre and sorta not great live performance but man the meme status is sorta deserved. After all, some things that become memes don’t always become memes because they were great...but hey, I ended up enjoying their 2017 endeavor, as possibly overrated as it might be. 17. Damn I never grew up with this song but yet listening to it make me feel like I have, it takes me back so many years, I would totally vibe to this back then and I still do now. 2010 has a lot of earworms 16. To be fair, Cyprus didn’t really send a lot of Cypriot singers in the 2010’s (and 20’s if we’re being technical), we’ve had a Welsh dude, an Albanian lady, a Georgian lady, and almost a half-German dude...just thought that was interesting. 15. I miss this goofy yet cultural side of Greece, they always had so much energy. I hope they do come back with a song like this in the near future, not to say their more serious endeavors weren’t good (I do enjoy 2018 a little). 13. The most viewed NQ entry and it’s from a country that doesn’t compete anymore...considering the poor results and the general consensus on Eurovision over there...yeah as much as I kinda want them to come back, I don’t Slovakia is coming back, which is a shame but it’s also not impossible... 10. Ah, Georgia...while Estonia might not have been as experimental as they were in years past, I can always count on Georgia to fill that void. As for the song, I may not enjoy it as much as others do but it’s deserving of its result. It’s still in my top 20 lol 9. I think the first time I saw this I died of laughter, I have no idea what they were going for but they certainly did do a good job at making it memorable. 5. I do kinda wish people were less hard on this entry, its reputation as the only Swedish NQ (as of right now, that is, this comment will age poorly somehow) makes me sad when I feel other Swedish entries are a bit more deserving of that cursed NQ. 2. Ah, the first Eurovision song I listened to, and it wasn’t even through a performance or anything. I actually heard this entry in some weird Winx Club dressing game (and I always assumed it was some weird iCarly song I never saw, I was like...5-7 years old when I first heard it cut me some slack)

37. I wonder what happened exactly, or how they decided Far Away got "negative reception" enough to change it. And this was before ESC fan media was big and found explanations for everything. I'm not saying shady biz but... Maybe it was shady biz. 34. I find this entry so fascinating even though I don't like it! Such a bizarre staging choice. 29. The worst thing is I have a decent grasp of German and kind of get the utterly ridiculous Dutch lyrics and... Yup, still like the song. Harmless and cute to me, a sign of a decaying ESC nation to others! At least it went well for The Netherlands in the end. 27. Wow, my mother is quite the opposite!! She doesn't much like ballads at ESC unless they're especially special, I remember her liking Lena a lot. I see what you mean though, it's a cute oldies song. 19. I'm actually very aggressively political irl and I can tell you this song is somehow even MORE relevant ten years later given how xenophobic Western Europe can be 🙃 18. Both of their songs are pretty good to me! But no, not the best ever. 16. Cyprus do have a tendency to send non-Cypriot singers lately!! Which is odd because that wasn't historically the case for them. I would be very down to see an unknown Cypriot artist get a chance next year! 15. I think Greece as an ESC country had a little identity crisis this decade... I think their party songs are the best, and working from an entry like this would be a good tactic! 13. I've heard that maybe Czechia's string of good results could reignite ESC interest in Slovakia, but apparently the mood is VERY disinterested... It's a shame, we'll see, I'm always sad when a country withdraws. 10. Very true!! Georgia doesn't always gel with me but I love how risky their entries are!! I need weird Estonia back too, though, their NF was too slick and shiny this year... 9. I've always seen it as a sort of dry satirical take on breakup melancholy!! He's being comically glum, it's so funny, but the song is genuinely very good too. 5. This is axtually my fav Swedish entry of the decade besides the two winners!! I do have a theory their next NQ (it's bound to happen eventually, even if it takes another ten years, right?) will be because of a professional but overly cold entry that bombs in the televote 🙃 2. Omg, Lena does lowkey look like Miranda Cosgrove 😂

I think there is some merit to what you say because any rock song stands out on the Eurovision stage, but that can be quite a positive thing if it makes the song look more impressive. I also think MaNga genuinely have something special about them tbh, especially the verses sound quite unique for a rock song.

I know alot of people didnt like Josh Dubovie that sounds good to me. But should've blame it on pete waterman, he did the song he wrote it and, simply enough it was trying to be hyped and Then when the song came out. Simply it sounded 80s, and simply it was bland he looks like an estate agent, and it didnt reflect anythjng that was going on At the time. Josh was stich up like a kipper and i gues the public didnt like it only getting 10 points, and then Josh carrer took a nose dive, but now he change his name to Josh james and has a new life now. Please dont bash him anymore Blame pete waterman for killing his carrer. Thoughts eurovision gal

okay, finally a year i know! 39: if this was not an automatic qualifier... it would most probably end up as a semi-final last place. the vocals are terrible in general, i see that they are trying to copy the aesthetic of a 90s boy band, but they’re not doing so well, the song is just... the absolute worst... there are so many things i can say about this entry, and all of them are negative. 38: okay, the performance is just pure cringe. at least the song is a bit better than the previous one. 37: so, we’re now finally getting to the questionable stuff... how is this in the final? i doubt there were better things than this mess in the semi-final it was in. i did not really get how the butterfly wing gimmick became so popular, but overall, this is just awful. 36: wow, 2010... more wings! the song is very dull, and pretty much has the same awful quality as the previous song. 35: yes, i absolutely agree on the “least favorite host entry” part! this song is absolutely awful and dull, and for some reason, sounds a bit similar to “butterflies” to me, for some reason... 34: i can’t say much about this one. it’s not the most awful song, but the performance... 2010, how much questions will you want me to ask about your entries? 33: i’m not a big fan of the vocals, but it’s quite decent but cheesy. for a song literally called “it’s raining gold”, the staging is quite appropriate. 32: i like the fact that they decided to go for the slavic folk/rock style, but it definitely resulted in a twisted mess. 31: this honestly did not make any impression on me. it’s an “eh” entry, and i don’t enjoy listening to it. 30: it’s an “okay” rock song, but it’s not really enjoyable to listen to in my opinion. i also do my really get the outfit picks for the dancers. 29: i never really cared about this entry and always found it quite annoying and unentertaining. i respect your opinion though! 28: this is absolutely ridiculous, but somewhat enjoyable, unlike some of the previous entries! the dramatic factor in this song was very exaggerated, making it a stupid mess that is somewhat still decent to me. 27: this never really made an impression on me, but it’s quite a good ballad, like ireland used to send in the 90s. but yes, it’s definitely lacking some power and meaning. 26: simply the most forgettable entry in eurovision for me. i do not remember what this song sounds like at all, i don’t remember the singer, i sometimes don’t even remember that portugal participated in eurovision that year! but if i listen to it again, this song is actually quite sweet. i respect your opinion. 25: quite a nice rock song. the lyrics are okay, but the staging looks more like it is meant for something like... norway or belarus that year, with all those blandly-dressed background singers? needs a little more power for a song like this. 24: and here is... my ultimate eurovision guilty pleasure! this song has absolutely one of the most fun listening experiences in that year, his voice is not irritating at all to me (except maybe the “eeeh” part but i don’t really care about that), it’s quite catchy, and overall, i just love this entry so much (my relatives hate it though) ! it even used to be my 1st of 2010 at some point! (not anymore it’s now azerbaijan) 23: quite a good and dramatic ballad. definitely not one of my favorites too. i’m also quite sad about the recap, using the one note that he got wrong... 22: this year actually had quite good non-qualifiers! the members sound great together and this song is absolutely great! 21: i feel like you would hear a song like this played on the radio at that time. they sound quite good together and the song is quite decent, though definitely not my favourite of that year. i don’t listen to this entry quite often, but i remember quite liking the staging. 20: i like the decision of singing the entry in their own language, and overall this song is very fun and enjoyable. i love how cheerful they seem on stage. after seeing a few of these, i definitely agree: the non-qualifiers of that year were quite great and some of the awful songs somehow found their way to the final. 19: this is absolutely ridiculous, but also has a very good message. this song is very enjoyable and fun, and i still listen to it often for some reason! definitely a legendary entry (and yet another non-qualifier). 18: i used to not like this because of their vocals, but looking back at it, i absolutely love this song! the verses are absolutely amazing in my opinion, that part near the end where they sing together: love it, and of course, the saxophone solo. who could have ever thought that an entry that scored quite low would become that iconic? 17: okay, not a big fan of the staging, but they seem to be having a lot of fun! i knew this song before eurovision (surprisingly, most of the songs i knew before eurovision were from 2010 and the 60s), and i found it quite annoying, but now i think that it is a great entry! 16: their voices are quite nice and the song is very pleasant. it hadn’t made much of an impression on me and i donny listen to it often, so i cannot really say anything about it. 15: as you might know from the 2011 video, i’m not a fan of greek popular music. so, i do not like this entry at all, but i respect your opinion! 14: quite a sweet song performed by a wonderful singer! it is simple but spectacular! 13: yet another great non-qualifier! this is an amazing song (the wailing woman though...), her voice is beautiful and i like the ethnic influence. 12: i quite love this entry! the song is not very forgettable, the chorus is good, as well as her voice and the performance was just... outstanding and spectacular. 11: not a big fan of this entry, but i can agree that the lyrics are quite dark and that the dances are definitely strange. 10: this is a good ballad performed by an amazing singer, and the choreography is intense, but still suits the song. 9: i can’t really say that i’m a big fan of this entry, but this definitely has some iconic humor and the staging reminds me of the atmosphere of... a russian art studio. just everything: the colour scheme, the stuff they are wearing; it all reminds me of just that (i associate some entries with quiet weird things, and i think that includes my association here). 8: i personally think that this song is an awful mess, but i respect your opinion! i can agree that the staging is quite nice, but the song sounds like it is made up of many parts of different songs mixed together to me. 7: my 1st place for that year!!! the song is absolutely amazing; i love both the verses and the chorus! (also, the story you told in your comment on this song, i remember it from your twitter). 6: this entry did not make much of an impression on me when i first heard it, but looking back at it, it’s actually quite amazing! it does have the explosive energy of a eurovision entry and her voice is quite powerful and suitable for this song! 5: another great non-qualifier! (so, this was the year of great non-qualifiers and 2011 was the year of awkward stagings, i wonder what i will say for 2009...) this is yet another simple but spectacular entry, sang by a likable, sweet singer. 4: i absolutely love how powerful this song is. her voice is absolutely spectacular, the staging is quite simple but effective, and the song in general is very great, with very meaningful lyrics. 3: this gets stuck in my head a lot (along with “lipstick” and “love me back”, two entries i would not put this song together with), but it is definitely my favourite of that year. they sound quite good together, the chorus is quite nice and, of course... can’t forget about the burning piano! 2: this was the first eurovision entry i ever heard, and let me tell you, i hated it when i first heard it. afterwards, i re-discovered it again online and thought, “hey! i actually love this! i want to see this win the contest it was in!”. so... this was how i discovered eurovision (i did not start being a fan until i watched 2019 though), and i still love this entry, and it was once my first (a few days ago, i changed it to azerbaijan! my favourites change so frequently...). 1: like with 2011, your first again is a song that is definitely not my favourite, though i still respect your opinion! in my opinion, i don’t really like this song and i’m not really a fan of it, but after a few listens, it got better and better!

39: this is what i hate about the big five sometimes!! they waste slots in the final putting in minimal effort while great entries like sweden and finland miss qualification by a hair. :( 33: a lot of aspects of this entry are just asking to be laughed at tbh! poor dude, i think he was fine. 29: you deffo have the majority opinion here, i'm just odd but i find it rather cute! 24: he is so fun!! doesn't quite capture me enough to be an absolute favourite but i absolutely see the appeal. 17: the butt shaking shots are a liiiittle much but they're more fun than trashy so i don't really mind :) 15: i'm actually working on a 'my top countries by average placing' video and greece is.... so low. like bottom five. i really love some of their 2000s entries (mainly helena x2 and kalomira) but the 2010s ones just don't really pop for me :( so i see where you're coming from. 9: it is very artsy and hipstery! but self aware, that's why i like it so much :) and of course the iconic, hilarious "I AM LOOOOOKING AT HER PHOOOOTOOO" exchange. 7: omggg i can't believe you've seen my twitter!! yes, i was gatherings clips for this video at the time and watching safura brought back those memories. i was legit obsessed with her when i was back then, she was my fav for a while. i've grown off her a little bit but i still love the song a lot. i was actually thinking of making another video comparing my winners when the contest aired versus now because i've been a fan for so long and it would be fun to look back at my questionable tastes! 5: 2009 is the year when i badly wish like three or four entries could win at once tbh! also very cinematic and bombastic, that moscow stage was HUGE. 2: lena is just magical and magnetic that way! :) such a cute intro the contest tbh! i don't remember my first entry because my family have always watched the contest but i think 'molitva' was the song that fully secured my love for esc. 1: very subjective song considering its genre(s) and how it's quite experimental, i'm mostly just happy it did so well in the contest!
