Old Australian lady from the internet enters the chat: Kylie vs Dannii. In ye olden times Kylie was the actor, Dannii was the singer. Dannii was on a very popular kids talent show called Young Talent Time while Kylie was appearing on popular TV dramas like The Henderson Kids. Dannii and Kylie did perform together on YTT (you can find this on youtube and this was while Kylie wasn’t regarded as “the singing sister”). Dannii aged out of the talent show at 16, Kylie ended up on Neighbours, then sang at some small football event and the rest is history. It is almost a John vs James Newman for the UK scenario from outside of Aus but both Kylie and Dannii are as well known as each other here, just ended up on different paths. The rumours of Dannii representing us at Eurovision was a lot of fun though!

@@Izumi250 Side tangent: I watched the first season of Hannibal for the first time last year, and found a very cool fan made playlist that has loads of songs with questionable morals. Which shows that it works, and there's definitely an audience for them! I'm not one for love songs, I find the ones that portray the darker sides of humanity more interesting. I've since added more songs in my own playlist and changed the title to simply "Will Graham", but I believe the og was called "the wh*rification of Will Graham" (so much for the "darker sides of humanity" 😂)

I was at Eurovision 2024 and I can say will full confidence that by that Thursday, the mood for the entire event had shifted. We had planned to go to Malmö that Friday to see Kääjirä perform at the Euro Village, but went to the Copenhagen National Art Museum instead. That’s when the news broke about Joost. We tried our best to enjoy the museum, however I’d be lying if I say we weren’t distracted by checking our phones every 5 seconds for any updates.

Once you started talking about Croatia and the rigging with Vatra, I felt called out, lol. Nobody really knows how that rumor started, but it wasn’t naive at all. The rules for Dora were introduced much later than the songs were, basically just a few weeks before the event. So, we had no idea if it would be like in Serbia, where all points are later converted to the 1-12 system. We also didn’t know there would be an international jury. On top of that, Vatra is, nowadays, a fairly mediocre band that not many people listen to, but they still dominate some radio charts (which nobody really cares about). Their Dora song was #1 for several weeks in a row, and it also got quite a few views on KZbin-almost too many any comments. So, I hope now you can understand why we were so worried.
