The participant's list for Eurovision 2024 was just revealed and we will have 37 countries competing at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö.
Will Australia, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Romania return? What about Armenia? Are the Big 5 back?

As Ukrainian , I won't go through all countries , cuz I joined esc fandom in 2022 , I'm still a bejba and don't know other countries and their music industries well , but I'll type smth about vidbir participants and what I want to hear from them :) - ALYONA ALYONA & Jerry Heil Not Sharovarshchyna (term to describe that oversimplified, very stereotypical Ukrainian stuff).It probably gonna have rap in it , cuz of ALYONA , but I wish that it won't last for most of the song. - MÉLOVIN Smth like Under the Ladder , but a bit better maybe , Dreamer seems to be a nice title - NAHABA I'm really excited about these ones , I really hope for smth alternative and edgy - YAGODY An ethic bop - YAKTAK Good live performance , kinda worried for him - SKYLLER In interview she said that her song doesn't have a lot of ethic elements , I hope that it's true , cuz some of her songs are screaming "Sharovarshchyna"

I was a bit disappointed with the participating countries list, because I was hoping for more countries than in 2023. I am happy about Australia returning despite the contract expiring and I am excited to see what Luxembourg has to offer. I hope Eurovision 2024 will be diverse with many genres and countries sending both ethnic songs and slightly more mainstream songs. I also hope my country Sweden will send something a bit different, such as a song in Swedish.

I really really hoped for Bulgaria to be in this eurovision. It hurts so bad to be a huge eurovision fan when your country don't participate. Unfortunately it's not only the financial reasons but also the lack of interest even though we have so many good artists. However I remain hopeful that Bulgaria will participate at least once in the next 5 years 😭

Bulgaria has been one of my favourite countries in the contest. Almost always send beautiful songs. 2010, 2016,2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021 have been my favourite songs they've send.

Israel won't get the Russia treatment unless a big, safe-bet country like Sweden as well as other countries threaten to cancel their participation. Not sure if it will happen though, especially if the situation calms down before Eurovision season starts. Russia was removed quite late, after all.

Russia was removed for initiating a terrible war on Ukraine for no reason The war in Gaza is to clean up that strip from Hamas and other organizations, ruining the lives of Israelis and Palestinians alike and I can't wait for people to just understand that already We don't wanna win Eurovision like Ukraine did in 2022 and we don't deserve to get kicked out for defending ourselves

Several countries have threatened to withdraw so I doubt they will be part of it. They can’t guarantee the safety either

Even if things stopped in two months, like their Prime Minister alluding to as a minimum, the situation won't be "calmed down". The world won't magically get over what they're witnessing, especially as history shows that more information comes out with time. And the EBU would be making a massive statement allowing Israel, after their decision regarding Russia's participation. I have strong feelings that many participants will be vocal if the EBU chooses to take a different stance towards Israel's participation than they did with Russia's.

Speaking of expectations: As a Ukrainian, I want something non-stereotypical representing my country My dream would be a contemporary song in English (or English + Ukrainian) with a catchy chorus and creative concept, whether it’s slow paced or a bop I’m glad we sent Tvorchi last year and I want something like that but with a more memorable song (But not great enough to win and not being able to host once again)

Thinking about countries singing in local languages, I would also recommend that, as a real difference element and we all come to ESC for this cultural exchange. However I hate when local languages have been misunderstood or ridiculed. In recent years the Breton entry from from France was not "accepted" by the audience and also the people laughing at "Yo no man broko mi" from the Netherlands, swinging in local Suriname language, with all the broccoli jokes, was so disrespectful. Unfortunately only certain foreign languages, to which the general audience has a certain degree of exposure, seem to do well. I hope we can get Armenian, Hebrew, etc.

In my opinion, we need to reform a bit ESC i mena the finance part of it. Because we want bigger contest. Also to be fair the Eastern and Balkan never wins whatever they do. I’m sure if Prague or Warsaw would host it would be way cheeper than Sweden or any of the western countries. I know that Serbia has 1 win already but if you see the countries like Hungary who delivered time to time when they participated, somehow the entries were killed by jury mostly. Czechia is mostly killed by televote, Poland has corruption issues and that’s getting g their way. However I feel it would be better if they would just let other countries host some times, I know this is about the winning but some country just not on the political situation to win even with a great song. Anyway it is what it is we have 37 countries it is better than nothing.

I'm sorry but I'm very disapointed about this list and I'm bummed cuase I'm seriously thinking about skipping this year. I've been very excited since the start because it's being held where I live, but the hypocricy of the EBU is just too much for me to be ok with, I don't like bringing politics to ESC, but this is just too awful to let go.

As French , foreigners have a very limited image of what France is and only expect the ultimate cliché “Paris mon amour”. France is multicultural. French music is "chanson française", rock, pop, raï, celtic, zouk, coupé décalé, jazz, punk etc...

I'm starting to get into French trap / drill. It's really really good. Imo probably the best language for trap, better than British and Spanish trap but I'm not sure if trap music would suit Eurovision tho. Perhaps a hybrid trap/rock and pop. I also am not sure whether Europe would be comfortable with France sending something like that. Everytime France sends a non ballad, allez ola ole, mustache, fulenn etc it doesn't do well

Eurovision Histories One of my all time favorite Eurovision entries ever was Il Volo representing Italy with Grande Amore 2015. Still listening to them alot. They are participating in San Remo festival again this year. My question to you is for me I would think that their type of music would be really popular with the Eurovision juries, but when they participated in 2015 they got quite low points from the juries but won the televotes and ended up 3rd. I mean .there is no question they had the professionality, the song and the voices to score high with the juries but didn't. You think they would do better next yer with a similar entry?

That is really an interesting case that baffles me. The televote being high makes sense as the San Remo winner is popular in several countries. I thunk the juries thought it was too cliché and went for Mans more. Juries also seem to prefer English entroes This year I have no idea...

11:44 It's sad and also a bit funny at the same time how German eurofans are SO undemanding about their song, just something that won't be last again...It reminds me Matt from ESCunited (he's also German) - I guess it was this year while doing his reaction to the German NF songs, he initially barely dared to watch them and said something about his expectations being so low that he has to search for them somewhere under the table... I really wish that Germany would get a decent result again. How Blood & Glitter managed to end up last is still beyond me. I was so sure that it will be Germany's best result after 2018. And I mean a MUCH better result than those from previous years. Btw, I'm a bit disappointed because you didn't say that my country should also send a song in our language again. It will be 11 years now since there was a song in Estonian in Eurovision. Pretty sad imo. This year, I wanted Ollie to win EL so bad that I really struggled to get on board with our actual entry and to support it properly like I usually do. Of course, if Ollie will bring something as good as Venom to the contest again, I'd vote for him as madly as I did this year. But tbh, I'd prefer a great song in Estonian without any doubt. I'm still very sure that we will go with an English song again and that's such a shame.

Eurovision Romania needs to stop working with TVR which is a dieing company sustained by gouverment money and have a private television company that can actually afford it , not only the participation but to make a show and find someone decent to represent us. ESC was the only time a year when i watched TVR .

I saw in another video someone commenting that the duet competing in UMK 🇫🇮 is two rock artists, but that's not true (I think it was just a harmless mistake ofc). They didn't specify their genre, it was just "two well-known artists duo wit serious refrain" 😊

When I translated the Finnish describtion of the duo in English it got translated as : " a surpising duo between two famous artists with hard rock". The Finnish words "kovalla kertsillä" got literally translated as "with hard rock ".

So dissapointed in EBU, 15.000 palestinians killed by Israel in Gaza yet they're allowed into a contest which was made with the purpose to not have wars. EBU banning Russia but not Israel (while more children has been killed in Gaza in 1 month then two years in Ukraine) screams that EBU only care about money and not human rights. Not sure 3h of very regional/traditional performances is the way to go. There are folkmusic festivals and they don't draw big crowds. Let the artists sing in english if they wish, they need to make a living too. Let ESC develop organically, the road to failure is paved with peoples good intentions.
