A great year to finish the 80's. Israel is my fave in studio version (shame that Gili got sick) and I also love Portugal, Spain, Austria and Germany. For some reason, I was never too keen on Denmark. The Danish songs in the eighties and early 90's sound rather similar to me.

Today the songwriter of turkish entry Bana Bana and conductor Timur Selçuk has passed away.(06.11.2020)

The Greek jury decided to give 12 points to Austria that night (and not to Cyprus) and this was a wise choice because the music of the song could be listened to on the radio even years after the contest. Austria would have made a much more deserved winner that night than Yougo.

I am not the biggest fan of the year and when people always say, that Yugoslavia didn't deserve to win, I want to know who else should have won. I can't stand the lyrics from Thomas' song, Mr. Horn-Bernges did so much better at the German song, just like Mr. Bohlen as well. My only faves are Germany, Finland and - yes - Yugoslavia. I also can understand why Iceland didn't get any points, I don't like the song as well.

Quite a weak year. Why does everyone says it's a good year? C'mon! The top 2 was not that good.. Yeah Yugoslavia is upbeat and catchy but it didn't deserve the win at all. To me, the best song was Denmark, it should have won. Catchy, great music, voice and performers. Charisma also! Great.
