Hey Jared, thx so much. With the Swedes and of course the crew from Green Wall Designs, you could be sure right from the start that it would be a stunning lighting design this year. It was very cool that many veterans like Ola were at work, and they still haven't lost their fire. What Fredrik Stromby and his team did incredibly well was the fine symbiosis of light and video content. You're right the design of the negative space above the stage with all the kinetics was amazing.

@@terjemullerkarlsen3028 A DMX universe is a group of 512 channels, so with 60 universes you can control 30,720 things.
@spyder02712 күн бұрын
@@TWFydGluThe only way you’re controlling that many fixtures is if they’re all 1 channel dimmers and that’s not what this is. It’s pixel mapped and individual control of fixture’s elements. It’s still an insane number of fixtures but nowhere near 30k
@spyder02712 күн бұрын
@@terjemullerkarlsen3028I’d like to add on to what he said. A DMX universe is a group of 512 channels for controlling lights. You set the DMX address on the fixture and put it in the console and that’s how lighting control works. It’s actually pretty simple. A simple lights patch chart would be IRGBW. So if you set the light to DMX address 1 channel 1 would control intensity, 2 would control red, 3 green, 4 blue and 5 white. The reason you need so many channels and universes is because they have individual control of the elements on the fixture or its pixel mapped. Each separate element on the light would need its own 5 or more channels for it to work correctly. I’m currently using 2 universes for 5 bar lights because they need 119 channels for the level of control I want for it. I hope this answers your question

I generally watch Eurovision now for the technical show, less about the performers, more about the technology and how it's being applied. For sure, for a manufacturer, getting your kit onto the Eurovision stage must do wonders for their marketing.. lol - It's amazing how LED/Laser has really taken over from traditional light sources; Was there any traditional lamps in use for the show..?
@EventElevator6 ай бұрын
You can find the whole equipment in our article (it's in German, sry) eventelevator.de/storys/esc-malmoe/ The only fixtures that were a bit more traditional were the ROBE Forte, T1 and T2. The lighting manufacturers naturally have a high interest in getting the latest models into the show, of course. The Ayrton Rivale was a good workhorse I think, the Martin Mac One too. With these high numbers, you have to stay within budget somehow.

The "side ladders" sucked from a live viewing perspective - blocked many times the view in the arena and diminished the experience - and the tickets (hotel, train etc.) were not cheap. Even in the lower ranks the views were blocked - maybe one should reconsider this feature to not use it in the future again..Even though it looked cool on TV ;)
@EventElevator6 ай бұрын
We can totally understand that from the visitor's point of view. Unfortunately, the EUROVISION is being designed more and more for TV viewers. Many effects can only be seen on television. I think it always depends entirely on the arena how you can design all the sightlines. But the advantage of being a real live spectator is that you can always see the changeover. We always find that fascinating. It's like a pit stop.

I think this year had so much potential and production wise it may have been the best in years but it was a lot and it came off as too much for every delegation I think... Like for example the cameras around the stage felt like the front of the stage was changing all the time which gave you a disassociation. Which would have played nice if they were more automated or rehearsed. The shots felt too random every time. Also the large cubes were nice but they didn't provide anything to the performances, it was more of a stationary prop that was nice to look at but you could see inside them and the black steel took out the magic and sometimes it look like a cheap effect (ex Italy, Czechia, Moldova, Slovenia...) Lastly the LED ladders (on the sides) were really low in some performances (ex Ukraine) and you could see the over-exposure because of the reflection on stage and on the artists which was disappointing coming from such an expensive and big production. Don’t get me wrong but it was a very nice show but less is always better and I think we either should have the LED panels with the lights either the square ones that were also inside the cubes or the side ones around the stage or the cubes.
