Eurovision: Top 101 by Percentage of Maximum Possible Points (1975-2023)

Today we are looking at the most efficient point-getters in Eurovision since 1975, when the 12-point system was introduced.
I checked every entry performed at the finals to see how many points it got out of the maximum possible points. The maximum would be 12 points from every country until 2015 and 24 points (2 sets of 12 points) from every country since 2016 plus 12 points for the ROW vote from 2023. I calculated the percentage for each song, and I included the top 100 entries (there was a tie at 100).

Intriguing that Finland 2023 isn't at the top 10 of this list, as if you counted televotes alone, it certainly would be... (2nd, I think.)

I feel no 2nd place will ever beat Bulgaria's record from 2017. Same with Portugal's point record. 2017 really had a tough top 2. And it wasn't even close between them. 2015 was also like this where the top countries took all the points.

@@gomixse Exactly Edit: I also believe that there is a possible chance for every entry besides the winner to achieve 0 points. Imagine a year where every entry except the winner did receive 0 points because of the jury systems that were used from 1956-1974.

In 1971-1973 was used the system which was the easiest to get the highest percentage of votes, in fact, all countries technically could get 100% and still enjoy all places from first to last with that percentage. And after 2016 it's actually harder to get higher percentage than in 1975-2015 not only because of higher amount of countries than previous century had, but also because jury/televoting is split differently than in 2009-2015. You can actually see that 2009-2015 winners would all have lesser percentage in a new "since 2016" system (except 2013 where split results are actually unknown for whatever reason so can't tell)

One country can get 12/12 points from any country (=100 %), the next one can get 10/12 points (= 83,33 %). Therefore, the sum of the percentages of two countries can go far beyond 100%.

It's written percentage of MAX. points, in your case it would be written "of total points"

Juries It was basically like this year, but Il Volo were the fan favorites and Sweden as always is the juries friend with benefits

Yes but let's be honest, every time Sweden won it also had at minimum a top 3 position in televote (correct me if I'm wrong) so there's more to it then just being a jury fav

@@harryrey2771 i mean of course, you can't just get a win while sucking all the way, you have to appeal to both But I mean these last 2 editions really told a story: You can either be such a big televote monster that the jury vote is completely rendered a non factor, or you can be pushed so hard by the jury vote that you can win without getting one single 12 from the televoting

@@taranciucgabrielradu Agreed. But neither Kalush Orchestra or Loreen would have won had they completely bomb with the other half of the votes. I dont remember where KO was after the juries, but Im sure it was top 10. And Loreen got second in the televote. You need to appeal to both.
