Perhaps there should be an intelligence test for people who pose as "reactors". Some got it, some didn't have a clue. AND! Being gay does NOT automatically endow anyone with good taste. This song has continued to grow commercially as time goes by, allowing stupids to develop taste and appreciation. Eurovision isn't real, btw, deals get done months before the contest. I forgot who said it was already done.But honestly Nordic countries always send pop songs, Balkans always send ballads. Just say you don't like the genre because that point isn't valid. Pop and other genres have been in Eurovision much longer than pop opera. That said the dress has a bigger meaning . It has nothing to do with La Forza nor is the performances based on LED lights on the dress. It's about overcoming depression and makes perfect sense that the dark figure is trying to hold her back but she keeps fighting it off. Amazing entry from Australia and hopefully people who are still angry about 2000 and whatever losing can come to their senses.

Absolutely spot on! This song is a masterpiece. Ok, Estonia's entry had a big dress, but it had absolutely nothing to do with what she was singing about. It was a gimmick! Australia's song on the other hand actually draws upon the theme of the song and incorporates it in the staging. I wish people would get that and stop with the ''it's a copy'' comments.

I don't understand how so many people say that "they have seen this before" and that "It's just like Estonia last year cause it's popera and she's wearing a big dress". The dress is nothing like Estonia last year and the songs aren't even remotely similar other than being "popera" what ever that means. Kate studied opera at school and was intended to go to OperaAustralia at the opera house in Australia but she rejected and got married then and two kids.The she and her husband starting writing music together and soon became a pop singer. Now she is competing in the competition.

Kate Miller-Heidke is a brilliant singer. She's classically trained and a professional song-writer having written and sung in operas and musicals and she's recorded numerous brilliant contemporary pop albums. She often writes and performs with her husband, singer and guitarist, Keir Nuttall with whom she co-wrote new music and lyrics for the musical theatre version of Muriel's Wedding. Anyone who loved her Eurovision performance should check out her songs and albums which are superb!

I wish these comments were on the version in which Kate flies too! The control she shows to maintain control during that was remarkable! As someone with a few kids myself, I can relate to where Kate was when she wrote it. So lovely. We used to sit up and watch Euro vision with a bottle of Glenmorangie and a couple of cigars. Having kids changed the tradition to food exploration of Europe so they could get involved too. Unfortunately, it's so much food and such variety, I'm always knackered and in bed letting them enjoy it. Hmmm, perhaps next year, I'll watch it online with a bottle and cigars by myself hiding from them. Zero Gravity!

Context, Back at the qualifier round when this was selected. The public backlash and outrage was Fucking Massive. At first, With other artists we had like Electric fields - 2000 and whatever and Shepphard - On My Way. This was so heavily criticised because the live votes were at stupid o clock on a channel not a lot of people watch as much anymore. In saying that, If you guys end up watching the semi performance I'd say Kate gave a huge middle finger to Australia and we love it. (Not my first choice but So happy we sent her)

Glad to see your response, folks. Went to the Australia Decides event: it wasn’t my favourite(Electric Fields was) but this song works on so many levels and musically is awesome. I think this will go down well with the judges (and I would go so far as to say could easily win the judges vote). How it goes down with the public is uncertain but judging by your responses it could do well there too! I am predicting top 5.

As an Aussie my preference was for 2000and whatever but as good as it was which was epic Zero gravity was the smarter selection. ELectric Fields themselves said that they struggled with the multiple cameras - they are not a studio band they play live at outdoor concerts and a lot of their sound comes from pre recorded vocals and sounds that they sing to and as epic as they are I think by choosing Zero gravity with a singer who has the chops was a better option but the song is polarising and that may be its downfall you either love it or hate it . Will certainly make the finals but from there who knows and that is what is going to make Eurovision exiting this year

Jose Uribe hi Jose 😊 I actually mentioned in my reaction that I didnt mind the studio cut and I named the entries this took me back to but it wasn’t in the final cut. Anyway, this staging reminded me of Aliona Moon, Cesar from Romania, Elina from Estonia, also similar to Croatia 2016 and Russia 2018, to name a few. *Personally*, I don’t like this form of staging as I feel the singer is restricted and it creates some distance with the audience, but this is obviously just my own personal opinion 😊 in relation to your mentioning of my musical preferences, Italy, Spain and France are all gracing my top 3 thus far. I do sometimes enjoy Swedish songs, yes. Obviously it depends on the song. As I have aforementioned, I think Kate is great but this package doesn’t do it for me, personally.
