@@Mxpqzyz yes. Loreen got 343/492 televoting points (69,72%). Rybak got 378/492 televoting points (76,83%) And Italy in 2015 got 366/468 televoting points which makes 78,21%. In total less points because less countries participated (40 instead of 42 in 2009) that's why it works better in % and they got the highest % ever.

They did not have to "persuade" anybody, nor the jury or the audience. Their level was too high. Not just the classicaly trained voices. EBU placed this system to diminish the voting only for the neighboring countries e.g. ( ex Yugoslavia, ex USSR, Baltics ), but I thing that if the song is great like Sweden's and Italy's are, as well as Belgium, Russia and Australia they will emerge. So no one can say this song is BEST for fact, that is why we have jury and tele voting.

Conspiracy theory I believe too because I live in Italy. The Italian RAI didn't want to win and made arrangements to get votes from the Juries as low as possible. Real reason, somehow related to the conspiracy above. There are actually 2 different concerts, one for the national jury and the second for the public, il Volo performed badly on the first go, had some technical malfunction.. But I believe they performed badly for the juries on purpose.

There was a huge discrepancy between jury votes (many voted for Sweden ofc) and public televoting (overwhelming majority voting for Italy). Because of this as of 2016 they changed the voting system to prevent situations like this. For comparison, Il Volo got 12 points from the public from 14 countries and (as a whole) more televoting point than MANESKIN...the system was flawed but it got somehow fixed, we could say

They won the public vote by a mile.  However, Sweden and Russia got enough votes from the juries to beat them overall.  God knows why.  The juries are supposed to vote on vocal performance and neither Sweden nor Russia could compare to Italy for that. The only other country whose singer came close vocally was Australia.

The Eurovision contest has all gone downhill since these guys took part - this was the best song ever in the competition - the audience vote put them in the lead but the tactical voting of the countries' panels saw to it they didn't win. They have too many standard voting alliances, but I think Swden would win anyway but by a narrower margin with Italy second. Sweden had a pretty good song (though Italy was the best) but overall Sweden had the best on scene performance so I can accept it as the winning performance but the winning song was Italy as well.

Among their many other accomplishments, they are winners of a Billboard Award 2014, nominated for two Latin Grammys, won Sanremo Music Festival 2015, toured with Barbra Streisand in 2012, and have dueted with Placido Domingo on their album "We Are Love." IL VOLO didn't participate in Eurovision 2015 for personal gain, they were truly honored to represent their country there, and so wanted to bring Eurovision 2016 to their beloved Italia. Italy should have won this year, no question. BUT I did get tickets for the grand final in Stockholm the following year, which was the best ever final. Plus it gave me the chance to travel from London to Stockholm by train (3 days) which I had always wanted to do. So a silver lining…… looking forward to Rome? Next year COVID allowing.

Eric Duv Up to 1997 almost every country used a jury and no televoting to award points. They used televoting exclusively from 1998 to 2009. I think the combined system is better, because it diminishes the advantage certain countries have due to large migratory populations (Russia, Romania, Albania, Armenia,...). So be glad televoting was taken into account, otherwise Italy would have been 6th.

I still don't understand why they didn't win. They were amazing, the song was amazing. The music, the lyrics, this unbelievable energy that runs through my body every time I hear it.
