My maternal grandparents met there, in the late 19Th Century. Mum said it wasn't uncommon at the time. I completed the 3 day pilgrimage in 1970 17 years old. Mum bet me £5 I couldn't do it, she knew me too well So glad I did. A connection with my culture and spiritual heritage. I had a feeling then and still, that this had been a special place long before the conversion of Ireland. There is a "Spirit of place" . I have felt it in such special sites, as "Delphi" in Greece. Borobudur in Java . I am sure you experience that crack in the universal spirit you can slip through.
