I’ve come to find that for certain applications louder is not always better. With that being said, I have the Evolve 50s and everytime I’ve used them I’ve been highly impressed. People seeing and hearing them are also very impressed as well. In this video the EV wins to my ears.

@@gerardbarnes153 I also like the sound signature of the Evolve 50 that's why I am patiently waiting for the Evolve with a 15in before deciding on which of the big boys to get. But the J8's cost value and maneuverability is hard to beat.

I believe i read the RCF is plastic, if so they won't be as warm as wood cabinets kinda like a boom box compared to a rack system. The trick would be to wrap the sides to reduce leakege. This would give RCF the edge because the highs are clear.

The old evox 8 was wood . I own a pair . 10lbs heavier than the j8 tho.

If I had both sets of those, there would be many occasions where I would take both sets. They seem really portable and it would probably not be a problem fitting both sets into an SUV. I would do either a 3 speaker setup with one as center or maybe on the side or rear. I could use 4 and do like a surround setup just for the dancefloor. But now way they just sit in the basement!

How new was the RCF? At least from your camera mic, the difference in sound was pretty noticeable. The EV sounds way clearer and like it has more fidelity across the frequency spectrum.

I have had my RCF for about 4 years now and it was brand new when I got them. I prefer the Evolve 50 sound in comparison to that of the J8 but the J8 is louder. I heard EV is coming out with a 15in Evolve so I am patiently waiting

LD Systems 28 G3s are more popular than the RCF Evox J8s from my experience. Definitely sounds better than both as well

@@Wickham2A I beg to differ. In fact in the US here and amongst most DJs and even musicians the LD 28 G3 is the least popular amongst the Evolve 50, the RCF Evox J8 and itself. Since sound is subjective the LD may sound better to you. Just like I prefer the sound signature of the Evolve over all of them some people prefer the Evox J8

@@DJFlowtunes I'm in the US as well and I've heard less ppl talking about the J8s than the 28 G3s especially in DJ groups that have well known wedding DJs. Perhaps in previous years before the release of the G3s but I don't hear that now. The Evolve 50 is definitely the most well known. And the Evolve 50s and 28 G3s are considered the top two choices for mid-tier columns while the Evox 12s and Maui 44 G2s hold that status for the next level up.

@@Wickham2A I see more of the Evox J8 than LD 28 even on my other DJ groups in the DMV cause it's significantly cheaper than the rest cause of the bang for the buck factor and based on my test it's louder than the Evolve but I still prefer the Evolve sound. For the bigger boys it's definitely the Evox 12 and the LD 44g2 that take the cake the others like Turbosound fell off a while ago but I heard EV is coming out with a 15 inch Evolve so if it's any thing like the Evolve 50 than that would be fantastic cause that's why I haven't gotten any of the bigger boys I have been patiently waiting for EV to release a 15in Evolve.
