EV Sales Have Strong Finish in 23...The End of Gas Cars?

EVs had strong sales in December of 23 even with cold temperatures and charger issues in large urban areas. Principal Bob does a parody of doom and gloom anti-EV KZbinrs with a spoof about the end of gas cars and why ICE cars are so bad...time to live like the Amish?

Based on the sales figures for EVs, the rate of growth has dropped significantly (according to an article this week in the WSJ). It's beginning to look like EVs will top out at 5-7% of the total population of cars (at least in the US). In addition, US car makers have pulled back from EV production, since they are sensitive to EVs piling up on dealer lots.

Is Tesla a French car maker? Maybe Japanese? Do Tesla cars "pile up on dealer lots"? Do they "pull back from EV production"? Or is it just shitty but expensive EV "wannabe makers" that have hit the wall? Making EV sceptic crowd clap their hand in joy 😏

Sales are increasing rapidly in China but with a command economy it's not like they have much choice. Sales in the United States are stagnant at best declining for most manufacturers. In Europe they're mixed. Each market has different needs.

When I read responses like yours about how well EVs sell in Norway I make it a habit to ask WHY? Do you know why? There have been strong financial incentives for buying electric in Norway for a long time. Fossil fuel cars are heavily taxed, while purely electric cars aren't really taxed at all. Hybrids also have very favorable taxes. So in reality the Norwegians are buying EVs not because they are better for them but because their government heavily subsidizes them to do so.

Then answer me this in 2024 Where is the Charging Infrastructure for this Great EV Plan? Nuclear Power etc ? Doubling of the Power Generating ? Where is the "Lower cost of Ownership" for say out of warranty fixes as 50, 60 + K for such a simple vehicle (no engine no trans or rear end) is out of scale. Believe it or not People are just not that STUPID. I beleive the idea of the Electric Vehicle will happen. It's sexy to think of and appeals to most but...between Politics, Technology not ready, No Regulation safety features, and the various Inferno Fires all over the Media. I can see why most lazy Americans are not interested at this time. Then there is the insane push of lies to the Public to make the EV out to be = to that of ICE which is just not True. I like you am older and myself I don't feel that all the rediclous bells and whistles are needed and do nothing but jack up the prices. I get it High End Expensive Vehicles are more profitable....but what happens after the warranty ....if just one sensor fails, an accident happens or god forbid your battery starts failing you have a DEADHORSE situation. You will have to pay some one to take it off your hands for recycleing. Where our current Smelly Stinky Gas Guzzeling ICE vehicles I can fix my self. Again I like the idea of the EV but BOY we are just NOT Ready ! POOR Planning ! Don't know why after Tesla worked for over 10 years to put in all his chargers the US Govt Ford, Chev etc does not see that the Infrastructure has to be 1st, then everything else will catch up and fall in line. Where out Govt is always backwards....till all the voting public Screams at them. Then they tax us even more and more and more till it finally happens.

It's not being _lazy_ ; that's simply an excuse for people not wanting to move away from a technology that is highly developed, and actually quite reliable and good at getting them where they're going with little or no fuss. Right now the focus for EV owners is always about when to charge next, how will the car react to cold, will there be charging infrastructure, being careful not to not charge to more than 90% nor let the charge fall below 10%. And the constant drumbeat of _I just charge at home_ isn't helping. Not everybody lives in a house with a driveway, and frankly people don't want to hook up wires to their car when they get home at the end of the day.

EV Sales actually tanked. All the major manufacturers have opted to switch to hybrid. EVs are fine for some folks but they will never replace ICE. ICEs are more economical, pollute less, weigh less, and will soon be powered by clean alternative fuels that will work with existing technology. Electric cars are disasters waiting to happen. When you ICE runs out of fuel you have a police officer with gas cans show up and you can top off. then stay warm for hours Unlike electric you'd have to bring a generator for each vehicle completely impractical.
@electricprincipal543

I hope you’re right about the future of ice cars. The rest of the information is from what source? No study has been done to show that electric cars pollute more than gas cars. That’s utter nonsense. Actual EV sales have not tanked. 25% of the sales at my dealership are EV those charts in the video are from real data. And we’re only talking about US sales and not including sales from around the world. Bu the way AAA already has trucks with generators built into them for the express purpose of giving energy to EVS. Norway, the fifth coldest country in the world and half the car sales are EV.s. Yup, as usual, we have screwed up building infrastructure in this country. However, we’ll catch up and EV will still be here for a long time until we come up with a magical solution for gas cars that we haven’t come up with in the past hundred years.

British study that was just done. Add to that the decommissioning of Nuclear Reactors all across the world without the infrastructure in place which we'll never be able to obtain true green energy that is all a pipe dream. Our best bet for increasing electricity production emission free is nuclear fission and fusion (if they ever get that figured out) Hydroelectric is great but too many rich liberal democrat elites trying to make money off of sight pollution products like windmills and solar panels.

@@electricprincipal543 _no study has been done to show that electric cars pollute more than gas cars_ there was a study that said until you drive 70K miles in an EV there is no pollution advantage for EVs. Of course, you need to look at the methodology, so I can't vouch for that study.

EVs are dead and the overwhelming evidence is piling up. Go ahead and love your EV, they have their good points. You are more than welcome to own one and enjoy it. EVs are never going to work long term and the reality is starting to hit home to the wider population. With all the subsidies disappearing around the world, even politicians are starting to see their folly. No, EVs are not a great idea. They are an option for a small minority of wealthy people. We are all far better to get politicians and Eco-zealots out of the way and let science and research develop real long term solutions that will fit reality and not ideology.
