They fudged the new EV sales figures... Now they're trying to fudge the 3 year old EV's coming off a lease deal, offering to extend the lease beyond original term to avoid the inevitable over supply to market - which will drive down the price of EV's further. Whilst at the same time trying to prop up the value/asking price in Auto-Trader, telling people buy a s/hand EV instead of used ICE Alas, the reduction in new EV prices, no more global shortage coming out of lockdown, in some cases - a new EV could be cheaper than it was 3 years ago - even without the EV grant/subsidy you once could claim So I don't see many people extending their lease on a 3 year old EV, so the over-supply will continue & more reduction in used EV prices People can try to influence & prop up the depreciation that is coming, only the next 6 months there will be MORE 3 year EV's flooding the market, and then the next 6 months there will be EVEN MORE etc... As the EV sales curve kept climbing, mostly on lease deals month on month, it is inevitable more & more used EV's will appear, whilst they try to stimulate/lower NEW EV sales = used prices will have to fall Now we are going into winter, the moment you drop below 10 degrees that 4 to 5 miles per kW in summer is now edging towards the 3 to 4 (if you're lucky at 0 degrees) miles per kW Even if you're charging at home for say 2p per mile You will notice that you're plugging it in more frequently as your range is in decline Driving in sub zero temp coz range anxiety is starting to kick in if pushing your EV range is not fun either Winter is not the best time to own an EV, people will find out and will be another factor for not getting an EV - maybe not just yet Yeah, they're gonna struggle to keep fudging & shoring up EV's going into winter with more used EV's hitting the market

@DanRyan-v5y3 күн бұрын
70% of what capacity though? You are already told to not discharge below 20% and not to normally charge over 80-90% to preserve battery life. So realistically you are only using 60% ISH most of the time. So is it 70% of the claimed capacity or of the 60% ? Just a question, but it shows that such things need to be taken into account if it is a public confidence issue. If people think they are being conned, as they already do, you have to be very specific about claims. Just as people are very sceptical about ice mpg figures from manufacturers. They conned too much and are widely distrusted.

@@DanRyan-v5y Fair points. Personally, I meant 70% of stated original capacity, but you are right, that needs to be defined. Tbh I’d probably consider a hybrid but a pure EV? Never, period. And even with a hybrid I guess the same issues around battery fires, not being able to repair post minor accident, spectre of high insurance etc would still make me think, f-it, ICE turbo 1.4 (like my Alfa) all the way thank you.

Fact between 2022-2023 239 EV fires in the UK. During the same period 100,000 ice cars caught fire. Ice cars are 29% more likely to catch fire.

@@Tyreman22 ratio of ICE to EV? Severity of ICE v EV? You do you but thanks for the response.

Petrol head here, owned Astons, Ferraris, a Lambo, 2 Ultima's, many Jags etc. Love my EV's don't care about depreciation as that is just value explained in another way. I'm thinking for myself. The latest car is 4 years old and I just paid off the PCP @£15k. Previous company contributed £450PM so I just added £100PM. With depreciation the car owes me £35k. That is fantastic value for money for a car which offers that performance and longevity. Just ordered a new Tesla Model 3 Performance for my work and will keep the Model 3 LR as a family car. Charge it at home for free (30KW solar plus 30KW battery). Let's see, 45000 miles on the current car. It's had one windscreen and two sets of tyres. Zero maintenance. Virtually zero running costs. You. Just. Don't Get. It. Bing on market crashes it lowers the s/h prices but I will always buy a new one every 4 years. Tesla are innovators and the car then is nothing on the car now. Unless you've owned a Tesla you will never get it! Citroen Ami is a POS. Tesla Model 3 batteries are doing 500,000 MILES on one battery. Wake up. You are cherry picking the stats you want for your channel.

Sorry you don’t get the big picture, blinkered, you are thinking about yourself that fair enough, I’m thinking for everyone and the motor trade, you think my Ami is a piece of shit but it’s perfect for me and to be honest I wouldn’t swap it for your Tesla, so I’m sorry that you don’t get the message, depreciation is value, that’s a good one, best yet, must use that one in a video thanks

A petrol head must have owned an Alfa, and a six cylinder zBMW

That must be the most self righteous me me me comment I’ve ever read. Talk about blinkered opinion. Also every true petrol head has owned an Alfa, you’re just someone that has chucked money at expensive cars.

Free electric charging at home from your 30 Kw solar and battery lol 😂😂😂 over 30k purchase price with 10 to 15 years max usable life span is not free charging. Let's hope you don't work in finance as you will bankrupt your company. 😅

@BarrieCrampton "Owned" that lot and now has a brace of 3's. I have most of those and 3 batmobiles, they're upstairs in a cupboard with the track

If EVs are so great they would sell brand new and second hand part of the problem is government pushing a technogythe public aren't prepared to pay for supply demand are out of kilter. We will have one when it makes sense to have one. If the government want better public adoption perhaps subsidise home chargers it certainly puts me off make fast charging cheaper. We could find a use case for an EV at the right price the salary sacrifice the BIK subsidy capital write downs, low car tax which all make the leasing company car market buoyant in the short term but the used market decides what a car is really worth. Stop interfering with the market the technology has to stand on its own two feet and needs to be reliable, repairable and insurable.

I am considering replacing my 9 year old Hyundai ix35 diesel, owned for 6 years, which still easily cruises @ 55mpg and is reliable and trouble free, I will consider an ev which will home charge @ 7p per kwh and achieve a real world 300 plus miles. I certainly will also consider a 3 year old ice diesel vehicle. The house we live at already has an ev charger fitted. So now it's down to price, watching closely how the dice falls. Thanks, Barrie, your insite is ace

Most these EV promoters were previously door to door double glazing salesmen and now they've found a new scam

You never say anything about tesla, 8 years guarantees car and batteries and many batteries going on way beyond. Also no dealers to deal with when buying. Also the Heighington selling car in the world ( that's the model Y)

Best selling car in the world..........not anymore, Oh! it's not just Tesla that give and eight year warrenty on the battery, most EV's have that.

Every single Tesla I've seen being driven on the road has been less than 18 months old. I have never seen a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 year old one. There's a very good reason for that. They don't last 🔥🔥🔥

Nothing wrong with EVs, You just have to stop listening to secondhand car salesmen with ice cars on their hands they can’t shift.
@ambassadorfromreality11253 күн бұрын
You seem to ignore one crucial fact when list the virtues of the ev, "good as they are", "nice to drive" etc which is that evs save a huge amount of CO2 emmisions which are causing cimate change and air pollution which causes health issues. This is the only reason that responsible governments are forcing the market to adopt evs. Thank God that evs exist so that everybody who drives a car now can drive a car in the future. The Car industry may be suffering as is likely because planned changes can always go wrong. The superior ev tech will naturally replace ice in the market over a longer period of time but we haven't got time so ut has to be forced. The real real villians of this sad story is the press relentlessly printing misonformation about evs causing uncertainity in many peoples minds. Why do they do that? It is this uncertainty which puts people off evs and causing the European motor manufacturers all sorts of problems with the transition to evs and their legacy ice. The chinese are laughing. The future is ev, they have them to sell, the world wants to buy them. Legacy manufacturers will be destroyed if they don't have a slice of the market and it will be down to those pedfling misinformation because we will be driving evs in the next few decades but not evs made locally. Don't be one of them
@matthewgodwin30503 күн бұрын
EVs are not the future. The future that governments have planned, is that nobody will own a car of any fuel type. That is unless we stop arguing about which is the best drivetrain, and start standing up to government tyranny. Your children will have to live in the dystopian future that we're all helping to create by acquiescing to psychopaths and idiots trying to control the fine detail of our lives.

It’s not only CO2 it’s, which is more important, it is also all the poisonous stuff, that is actually killing people in our towns
@mastergraphic99983 күн бұрын
Idiot. Co2 is produced whether you burn petrol or deisel in an internal combustion engine or charge an ev car powered with electricity from power stations buring gas and wood pellets or renewables which consume colossal amounts of co2 in their production. Have you honestly ever thought the process through or just repeat what you are told.......
