Wow. He said it takes 26 hp to drive down the road, and 60% of that hp is used to overcome aerodynamic drag! We are always so focused on peak hp ratings on vehicles that we don't realize what the vehicles really need. Thank you for teaching!

I'm installing 6 tesla 5.3 kWh batteries (31.8 kWh) in my Manx SR. The completed vehicle with batteries and motor and driver will weigh just under 1500 pounds. Using your calculations using 80% capacity and 150w/mile, on a good day, on a flat road I might get 170 miles. The vehicle is reasonably aerodynamic. Is this close? I would be happy with 150 mile range.

There are a lot of variables, such as tires, ambient temperature, driving speed, and of course your right foot. But it sounds like you are in the ball park. Thanks for watching.
